In the afternoon, Sarah and I have full stomachs, manicured nails, new clothes, and are ready for work. I didn’t know I needed a day for us to reconnect and relax, but it was sonice to not worry about everything for a while. Last night was the most perfect night of my life and I can’t wait to see Bash again.

When he walks into the bar about a half an hour after sunset, I greet him with a huge smile and come around the bar to hug him. He lifts me off my feet and kisses me gently before taking up his usual spot at the bar. I bring over his customary whiskey. “Hey, Bash.”

“Hey,Tesoro. Did you have a good day?” He watches me knowingly over the top of his whiskey.

“You know I did. We went to brunch and had mimosas. We went shopping and I got some new stuff for you to laugh at when I wear it. I also got my fingers and toes painted. Thank you, Bash. It means a lot that you did that for us.”

“Your toes, huh? I’ll have to check them out. I can’t wait to see what new panties you have in store for me.”

Blushing, I level him a look. “Speaking of panties, mine seemed to be missing from the pile of clothes this morning. Do you know anything about that?”

“Hmm, that is very odd. Perhaps you left them somewhere—or someone took them.”

“That’s naughty naughty of you, Bash.”

He laughs at me. “I’m sure. But they had a little message only for me,” and he winks. Winks! My stomach flutters a little and he takes a big inhale through his nose and gives me a knowing look.

“I know that we have plans with Sarah and Ethan on Sunday, but after, we have been invited to meet with my mother.” I stiffen where I lean against the bar. “I know it's a little soon, but she makes the rules and I follow them—or so I’m told. Don’t be intimidated though, she will be on her best behavior.”

“If you say so.” I sigh as I walk away. All my relaxed feelings from earlier, gone.
