“Hold on,” Trevor says, wrenching his mouth away. At Skyler’s involuntary whimper of protest, he smiles, rubbing his thumb along Skyler’s bottom lip. Then he looks around and starts striding purposefully toward the other side of the room, tugging Skyler along with him.

A few moments later, Skyler finds himself in a coat check room, luckily abandoned, being shoved into a rack of expensive coats. Trevor’s lips are attached to his neck now, and as Skyler grips carelessly on to the nearest item of clothing to steady himself, he realizes they need to move before they wreck something.

Trevor lets himself be pushed back a few steps, but he doesn’t cease his work in biting at the tendons of Skyler’s neck and trying to make Skyler’s knees buckle.

It pains him to do this, but he grips Trevor by the shoulders and says, “Hey, you don’t want to leave a mark right now.”

Because they’re not at home, and people will see. And while he couldn’t care less if people know that his insanely hot boyfriend mauled him, he knows Trevor doesn’t want that.

Trevor finally lets up and blinks at him, taking a moment to realize what he’s saying. And then he frowns, eyeing Skyler’s neck like hedoeswant to see it marked up. Skyler knows that look because he’s looked at Trevor’s neck like that so many times. Like a blank canvas for him to paint in reds and purples. He shivers under Trevor’s gaze and leans in to kiss him again.

“Feels like old times, doesn’t it?” Trevor murmurs against his lips.

Skyler pulls back to laugh because it does. And because that’s wonderful. “Remember when Oli walked in on us?” he asks.

Trevor quirks an eyebrow playfully and says, “Which time?”

And Skyler just… loves him. He loves him so much.

They don’t have time for anything more than mutual handjobs, because it’s a small party and their absence will be noticed. But somehow, it’s better this way. Reminds him of when they were young and first starting to explore things. When everything was new, and they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

Well actually. That part hasn’t changed much in the last ten years.

The rough glide of Trevor’s hand around him makes Skyler moan loud enough that Trevor slaps his other hand over his mouth to stifle the noise. Which only turns him on more.

By the time they’re finished and looking presentable again, everyone’s already sitting down eating dessert. Oli catches Skyler’s eye and opens his mouth to make what would surely be an inappropriate joke, but luckily Skyler’s fierce look and subtle head shake is enough to make him snap it shut. Skyler’s shameless about this stuff, but not everyone here knows about them, and he doesn’t want anything to make Trevor worry.

Trevor doesn’t seem overly concerned, though, as a few other heads turn to watch them take their seats. And as they eat their desserts, he hooks his ankle around Skyler’s. So there’s that.

At the end of the night, they’re both pleasantly tipsy, laughing and falling over each other as they climb into the backseat when Mike picks them up. Skyler can’t wait to get Trevor home and spend a few hours showing him how much he loves him. Preferably naked.

And tomorrow he’ll get to watch Oli marry the love of his life, and then he’ll go home with the love ofhislife, and they’ll strip each other out of their pretty suits, and maybe say their own silent vows by pressing their lips to each other’s skin. It’ll be perfect.

It’s all he needs.

He doesn’t need public declarations and articles written about their relationship. He only needs Trevor.

He wishes his younger self could have realized that. But he knows it now.

Chapter Forty-One

Now

TREVOR

Trevor might be morenervous about this wedding than the groom. The rehearsal dinner went fine, but a lot more people will be here, and he has no way of knowing how many of them will be watching he and Skyler’s every move, ready to sell a story to the tabloids.

Oli has already reassured him multiple times that guests aren’t allowed phones or cameras. The only pictures taken will be by the hired photographers, and every photo will be vetted by Oli before being posted anywhere or sent out to guests. So that’s helpful. But Trevor’s learned long ago that you can never be too careful. People tend to disregard the concept of privacy when it comes to celebrities. Even washed-up ones like himself.

He wants to be able to relax and enjoy this day. For his own sake, and for Oli’s. But also for Skyler. Skyler who was so excited this morning that he was already dressed in his suit while Trevor was still eating cereal in his boxers. And Skyler won’t fully enjoy himself if he thinks Trevor’s stressing.

So he put on a smile and put on his baby blue suit (because Skyler refused to let him wear “boring blah black”), and they arrived early like they were supposed to, and so far, everything’s been fine.

He was a bit surprised when he learned Oli had made Noah his best man, but that probably wasn’t fair. Just because Noah hadn’t spoken to Trevor or Skyler in the last five years didn’t mean he had any reason to hold a grudge against Oli. It makes sense they’ve remained close.

Trevor wishes Noah was here right now, though, in the designated dressing room for the groom and groomsmen, fulfilling his best man duties. But Noah wandered off five minutes ago, right before Oli decided to have a meltdown.

Oli’s approached this wedding the same way he approaches his whole life, with an entirely casual glee. Yet now, when it’s almost time for him to go out and take his place at the altar, he’s pacing back and forth enough to wear a hole in the carpet.
