She almost seems timid to ask her question, which is adorable.

“No. You’re my first baby.”

I’m tempted to add ‘and last’, but decide to keep it to myself.

Reminding myself that this is all kind of new, and I don’t want to pressure her or make her feel like I’m the overbearing boyfriend.

“I love all our firsts,” she says, and the word isn’t lost on me.

Why didn’t I just tell her before she left?

It feels like we’re having the same conversation through our eyes, none of us wanting to say the big words over a screen the first time.

“Four weeks,” I whisper, reminded of another time when we were holding on to our control before crossing that line.

My self-control slipped right from my hands, and it might just do that this time around as well.

“Four weeks.”

“Should I push you down the stairs?” Dean asks, making me look up at him, a frown on my face.

“What?”

“If I push you down the stairs, you’ll probably be injured and therefore could be out of practice. Then you can let us all out of the misery of your sour mood.”

Fredrick chuckles beside Dean, obviously agreeing with the fucker.

Am I really that moody?

“Shut up. I’m not in a sour mood.”

But my tone isn’t exactly cheerful.

He might have a point, but resorting to injuring myself to go see Lily may be taking it a little far.

“On a serious note, Sebby, you should try to get some time off to see your girl. We can see you’re struggling.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dean this serious, which says a lot.

Shit.

Maybe I am struggling more than I realised.

I could try to talk to the coach and get a few days off.

It’s been almost two weeks since she left, which means we are soon at the halfway mark.

It wouldn’t be too bad to ask for some time off.

I’ve never asked for it before, and it must be possible for family emergencies.

Missing your girlfriend may not qualify as a family emergency, but he doesn’t have to know that.

“Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ll look at our calendar for the millionth time and try to come up with something for the coach.”

It’s at least worth a try.
