?Asher hums as he thinks about. “Depends. Sometimes they’ll allow you to use magic and sometimes they won’t. They probably won’t let you use yours.”
?Jullia clucks her tongue. “So no magic for you, Mavyn.”
?I roll my eyes at her, but Asher lightly scoffs and when I turn my head he has an eyebrow raised and nods.
?“You’re more likely to eviscerate your opponent than just get their back on the mat.”
?I glare at him. “You act like I can’t control myself, Ruleten.”
?He shrugs as we enter the main building and take the cloister along it to the cafeteria. “You did basically explode three, almost four, months ago and fractured the earth so far down some of the earth mages were hypothesizing if you reached the oceanic crust or not. They stopped fixing it after a quarter of a mile.”
?I make a clicking noise in the side of my mouth as I contemplate that. I’m surprised that wasn’t something I was scolded about by Nana.
?“Well,” I huff, “I did save everybody so I think that gives me a pass.”
?“Definitely gives you a pass,” Jullia mutters.
?“And despite that,” I say to Asher, “I have excellent control over my magic.”
?“You have excellent suppression,” he corrects, but that is also incorrect.
?I don’t bother correcting him though, as we walk into the cafeteria to get in line. It doesn’t take long and soon enough we’re sitting in our regular spot and I’m sighing in content before shoving food into my mouth. Lasairorm finally relentsas my choker and fades before disappearing to wherever she’s gonna wander off to. Allowing me to eat properly.
?So,sogood.
?Crispy fried chicken cutlets with dark gravy, chopped potatoes with bell peppers and onions, my steamed vegetables, toast that I will be spreading raspberry jam on, and a bowl of some type of fruit that looks like a kiwi but tastes something like a honeydew.
?I scoop a large helping of my steamed cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots and stuff it into my mouth.
?“Your relationship with food should be psychologically studied,” Asher deadpans. Jullia elbows him in his side as I choose to ignore him and slice into my chicken.
?I stuff the piece into my mouth right as a presence enters the cafeteria that has everyone quieting. Instead of turning towards him, I scoop some bell peppers and potatoes in with my chicken and almost struggle to chew.
?The closer he comes the more taunt our tie between us becomes. I can feel his restraint and need and worry and regret and many other emotions I block out so I can enjoy my food.
?Do not ignore me, Bloodsucker.
?I block him from that too and swallow before shoving more food into my mouth.
?“Ms. Tsuki,” he rumbles and I glance back at him as he approaches our table. “I need you to come with me.”
?I finish swallowing this bite and twist my upper half to see him better. Dressed in his typical white button up and slacks, though there’s no jacket and his sleeves are rolled up. He looks calm enough, except he shows everything through his eyes.
?But if there’s anyone who will choose food – especially my steamed veggies – over darkly heated eyes; thick, veined forearms; fingers that know exactly what to do; a tongue that could make you come in point five seconds; and a nine inch package. . . it would be me.
?I’d choose food over sex every time.
?“Uh, raincheck. Haven’t eaten in like, a century, so imma finish my food, thanks.”
?I turn back around and scoop up another bite when a hand wraps around the back of my neck and I make a squeak as I quickly shove the fork into my mouth and clutch my plate. Varian, only using one fucking hand mind you, pulls me up and out of my seat.
?“I wasn’t asking.”
?Fucking psycho.
?I hold my plate close as shadows begin drifting right before we shadow twist. Then that hand on the back of my neck wraps around the front and my back hits a wall. A thigh presses between my legs as lips caress over my neck and something shatters.
?MY FUCKING FOOD!
