?That thought has me steeling myself as I raise a brow at her like she had me. I know she had been with Callahan this morning running through the edges of the Hinterwood – which is reckless, especially from Callahan – before she went into her dorm to get ready. Which means she had to have at least found out Castiel was her fated by last night.

?Callahan knocks on my mental shields as she leans over to him and whispers something. I open my mind to him and his amusement greets me, but behind it I can feel his rage.

?She said to be a good boy and teach your lesson without breaking anything else. Please and thank you.

?In the background I can hear the bell ring and my class being full of students, but all I can focus on is her. Four fucking days.

?Within Callahan’s mind I can feel his walls wavering. That rage raising its head for a moment before he locks it back up.

?If it helps – which I know it doesn’t – but she also didn’t tell me. I found out the same way you did.

?She keeps her focus on her tablet as the rest of the class waits. Most of them are glancing at her and their open thoughts cloud the space. I’m sure by now the whole school has seen that video of her and Ms. Waterstone.

?I wouldn’t have seen it if Darian hadn’t sent me a link to it. The damn angel said he thought I’d appreciate the heads up. Since it hasn’t been announced yet about Mavyn actually being a vampyr and us being fated. I don’t know how anyone would think she’s still a vampire after seeing that battle two months ago. Everyone had either witnessed it, felt it, or seen the aftermath.

?I want nothing more than to ask her about it. About her and Castiel. He’s practically my brother and best friend, and he lied straight to my face when I asked if he was fated to her like Callahan was. LikeIwas.

?Pulling my aura back to me, I hear a few exhales from the students and turn towards the board. “Today,” I announce, gaining everyone’s attention, “we will begin our first lesson of destiny and fate and the nine connections associated with them.”

?I canfeelher eyes snapping to the back of my head as I write the lesson down. I canfeelher glare.

?I wonder if she’d still glare like that bent over my knee. Or better yet, over my desk as I –

?You’re making me fucking hard, Asier.

?I choke, and reign in my lust while kicking Callahan who’s chuckling darkly at me out of my mind. I have a godsdamned class to teach.

?Clearing my throat, I face the class and just as I suspected – she’s glaring at me. Burning eyes locked right on me as I smirk. “Who knows who the first fated were in history?”

?I wonder if she knows. If her knowledge extends to that too. Her eyes narrow and there’s a flash in them. It’s that same flash that’s happened before. A tell. If she didn’t know the answer she does now.

?“Ms. Tsuki?”

?All the hands that were beginning to raise lower as the corner of her upper lip lifts. “In all of history, or just in the history of Miy?”

?Curiosity sparks. She has a point with that. There are other worlds and universes far older than just this one.

?“After all,” she continues, a rough edge to her tone, “this is Magic History, not Magic History of just Miy.”

?She’s toeing the line with her attitude and unfortunately it’s turning me on.

?Tell her to knock it off, I tell Callahan. He’s right next to her with his hand covering his mouth, but there’s a glimmer in his eyes.

?“Of Miy,” I clip, and she rolls her eyes as she leans back in her chair.

?“Well. . . I’d say the first record was the love story between Desmityros and Hessenti. The famous primordial devil – first and only devil to be a primordial – and the primordial goddess of shapeshifters and runes.”

?There’s abutthere. I know there is.

?“But. . . ?” I finally asks. Her scent flickering with a fluctuation for a moment and her expression wavers at it.

?“ButSyngenia the first blood witch created was fated long before she herself was created.”

?And there.

?I had already created a sound barrier around the classroom waiting for her to speak history that has been long locked up and forgotten.

?“There had been an altercation because of it. Syngenia had five who were fated to her, and as only a celestial the primordials believed she was unworthy to have so many powerful beings connected to her. One of her fated even being a god made before Hessenti Goddess of shapeshifters and runes. It was the same for her daughter too, Syngenia the first vampyr, and her granddaughter, Sanivin the first vampire. Each of them has five fated as well.”
