“Yes, Chief.” He offered a weak smile before wrapping me in his arms and kissing my forehead, which suddenly had the power to calm every racing nerve in my body. I had just let go of a sixteen year secret that I had been carrying. No one knew besides Quincey and me…and well, his lovers, and now Courtland. Quincey didn’t even list the full details in the contract, instead using code words and other cryptic phrases.
When my phone went off again, regrettably I broke out of Courtland’s embrace so I could head home.
At my car, there weren’t several kisses but one long one that almost had me saying fuck it and taking my chances with whatever consequences.
“Call me when you make it in,” Courtland said as he shut my door. I nodded then pulled off with a heavy feeling in the pit of my stomach.
“Good morning, ladies. I’d like to welcome you all to the annual Ms., Miss, Mrs. Crescent Falls pageant. This weekend all of you will be put to the test to see which of you will walk away with the crown this year. This year, we’re changing the schedule to accommodate some of our later arrivals who just got in not too long ago. First on the agenda is the meet and greet of the judges, host, and sponsors. Then we’ll give you ladies time to mingle amongst each other. I know some of you are roommates, while some of our vets who returned are in single rooms, so we want to give you all a chance to get to know each other a littlebetter. We understand that this is a competition, but that doesn’t mean you can’t leave with at least making a few new friends. After that, we’ll do a quick rehearsal then break for lunch. You’ll finally get to rest before interviews this evening. I hope you ladies are excited to be here. Again, I know this is a competition, but please remember to have fun this weekend. As all the greats who came before you have said, being yourself is the boldest and most beautiful thing you can be.Okay, without any more from me, I give you, your panel of judges.”
We sat in the ballroom listening to the host give her welcome speech to officially commence this year's pageant.
While the other ladies gave rounds of applause at the presentation of the judges who made themselves known, my attention was on the man who stood off to the side dressed in a crisp black suit.
And looking good as fuck too.
And as good as he looks, why the fuck is he here?
Johnni, obviously he’s working.
But why, was the question. I mean, I did want to see him, especially since I didn’t have time to sneak away this morning before check-in, just not here.
Plus, not to mention, now is literally not the time nor the place, Johnni. You’re working and Mama Steph is here.
Ugh!
He hadn’t been at check in with the rest of the security team and now I was curious about that too.And he isn’t even dressed like the rest of them.
No, Courtland’s whole stance and appearance said that he was guarding something precious. Since I still didn’t have his eyes on me, I followed his, landing on Oakley Charles who smiled and waved, doing her best to mimic our queen wave.
It wasn’t perfect, but I could tell she put a lot of effort in.
“Y’all gon have to get me right before the end of the weekend with the wave so I can tell my husband he has to address me as an honorary Mrs. Crescent Falls Queen.”
A few giggles flowed from the group at her words while I put my eyes back onhim. They must have been burning a hot ass hole into the side of his head because it finally granted me his. He tossed me a wink that to anyone not paying close attention to looked like a deep blink. Even though I was low-key hella nervous, now my breathing seemed to relax.
Courtland does have a way of making you relax whenever he’s around.
And like that, my mind went back to the feeling of his thick tongue lapping my pussy juices.
No, Johnni. Clean your thoughts up. We’re here for a reason, and unfortunately, Courtland wasn’t it nor could he be.
I readjusted in my seat, putting my gaze on the judges, learning names and faces, doing my best to pick up generic vibes.
TEN
Tunk
How the fuck did you miss this bit of information, nigga?
Because she didn’t tell you, fool.
Which was true and now I was more curious about why?
I was working and my personal shit had no business being here.
Yet, your personal shit is sitting there pretending to ignore you.
I smirked.
