But, to both of their surprise, Danger was all for it. He didn’t hesitate to reply,

“Bet.”

Caresha smiled to herself as they sat quietly, letting the liquor settle in. Danger stared out across the city, his expression eventually growing distant without him realizing it.

Caresha noticed. “You okay?” she asked softly, rubbing his back.

Danger glanced over at her but didn’t answer.

“You kind of do that sometimes. Go quiet out of nowhere. But I get it. Grief has a way of sneaking up on you. One minute you’re cool, the next your chest feels heavy all over again.”

She understood him perfectly, as that’s how it often went for him. However, shockingly, Danger felt good that night.

“Yeah, I’m straight. Actually, I’m feelin’ real good right now.”

“Then what is it? What you over there thinking about?”

He tugged at his chin hairs for a second, licking his lips. “You want me to be real?”

“Of course.”

“I’m wondering how you taste…what you feel like.”

Caresha froze mid-sip, lowering her drink slowly as heat rushed through her body. Her clit thumped first, then her thighs tightened. The way he said it, calm and deep, like he had been thinking about it for a while, left her feeling flustered.

She looked away, feeling the intensity of their eye contact. A nervous smile tugged at her lips as her fingers tightened around her glass, and she hated how hyper-aware she suddenly became of everything: his voice, his scent, his eyes on her, and the closeness between them.

For once, Caresha found herself speechless. Danger didn’t let her shyness linger; he kept talking, engaging her. After three more rounds of drinks, she started to drift off against him. Knowing she was tired, he decided it was time to take her home, though he didn’t want their night to end.

Gently tapping Caresha’s shoulder, Danger woke her and they left the clubhouse. At her place, he walked her up the stairs, but before she could say goodbye or unlock the door, he leaned in and kissed her.

The kiss was so good that Caresha couldn’t deny him. She couldn’t find the words to ask him to stop before it led to something more. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, softly…slowly. They kept at it, Danger practically groaning against her lips until a man suddenly approached.

And Danger didn’t hesitate to break the kiss. At the sight of wicks and a tattooed chest clad in a tank top in his peripheralvision, he swiftly pulled his gun from his waist and pointed it at the man, stopping him dead in his tracks. He would never be caught slipping. Even when a nigga thought he wasn’t paying attention, he was focused. It was the Knights law. Stay ready, so you didn’t have to get ready.

“Woah, oh my god.” Caresha’s eyes grew wide; she couldn’t believe this was happening. “D, wait. That’s my—”

“Who the fuck is you?” Danger cut her short, eyes locked on the intruder.

The man stood with his hands held high, visibly shaking. “I’m just trying to get in my girl’s apartment, fam. That’s all. I don’t want no trouble.” He dangled the keys in his hand to show proof.

Danger didn’t buy it right away; he had trust issues. He pressed the barrel of his gun against the man’s forehead, studying his face, trying to see if he recognized him from anywhere.

“He’s my neighbor’s boyfriend, D. That’s all. She lives right here. I know him.” Caresha confirmed.

Still, Danger watched the man closely. “Word of advice, if you see me standing somewhere, you wait. Don’t ever walk up on me, nigga.”

The man nodded slowly as Danger chunked his head toward the door, gesturing him to unlock it. Quickly, he did so, nearly dropping the keys in the process. Once the door closed, Danger glanced back over at Caresha.

“D, what the fuck?” She said, going from turned on to terrified in a matter of seconds.

Danger didn’t bother to explain; he simply stared at her with lust in his eyes all over again. He’d encountered many pretty women in his days, but she was the prettiest, a unique beauty that had him fired up.

Caresha deeply exhaled. “That guy is really nice, and you just pulled your gun on him.”

“And I’d do it again. So now what? You mad and gon’ make me leave, or you gon’ play nice and let me in?”

Caresha stared into Danger's eyes until laughter burst from her. “Jesus. What the fuck have I gotten myself into?” She whispered, bowing her head and shaking it.
