“We will go on foot from here; the bikes bring too much attention and if it is the vamps causing trouble, I want to have the upper hand,” my VP explains.
I grunt and walk off, not caring if my brothers are behind me.
Camo chuckles behind me, but I do not turn around to tell him to fuck off like I really want to; instead, I just keep walking. People move out of my way as I walk down the street. Normally I would grin and scare them more, but I am not in the mood.
“You are a broody fucker, you know that? When will you learn that Delaney is a strong-willed woman with a very stubborn streak?” Camo says, arriving at my side.
“Stay out of it, VP,” I growl, making two young women jump as they walk past us.
“Scaring the locals now, brother.” He laughs.
“Fuck off, Camo. I am not in the fucking mood to deal with your bullshit.”
“My bullshit? Brother, it was you who caused the shit that went down between you and Delaney. You got it in your head that she is a weak human—which she is not, by the way. Someone who is damaged and is not worthy, when if you ask me, you are not worthy of her."
"Like you are worthy of your mate,” I counter, coming to a stop in the town square.
He laughs. “Fuck no. Skyla deserves a million times better than me. But the Fates gave her to me, so I will cherish and protect her with everything that I am, brother. Especially now that I finally have her.”
“It is not that simple with my woman, brother.” My voice loses its anger.
“From what was said back at the club, she is not your woman.” He grins, and I want to punch it off his face.
“You know she is mine.”
“Have you fed from her yet? Have you tasted her?”
I stare at him, not saying a word while he works it out on his own.
“You have, and you said that shit to her back at the club. You fucking idiot.” He shakes his head. “She finally got a piece of you, and you treat her like that. What a cunt. No wonder she looked broken. You need to fix this before my woman and her crew find out and come for your head, Thor.”
Skyla is one tough bitch— add in her little crew from the gym, and her and Camo’s adopted son, Aston, and they are a group you do not want to piss off.
“How is Aston? He join the debate team?”
I switch it up; Camo is a proud dad for that boy. They saved him when he came into Skyla’s gym with bruises. Some other shit happened, but now they are a happy family.
“Do not use my son to change the subject, fucker. But yes, he got on the team and is kicking ass.”
I smirk, my anger evaporating. I love that kid like he is my own; I have become one of the many uncles he has gained from Camo taking him on, when his only blood treated him like a human punching bag.
“He will be ruling the school in no time.” I chuckle as we walk down the street.
Something bad lingers in the air; I can smell and sense it but cannot see anything out of the ordinary. Scanning as I walk, I take in the people enjoying their evening. My thoughts drift back to Delaney, who is at work at Starlight Lounge across town.
I no do see her as a weak human, as Camo put it, but I do recognize that she does carry some damage from her past. One that I hate, as us being together could drag that trauma back to the surface for her.
Seeing her riding my fingers, grinding down on my cock while I bled her, made me want to sink my teeth into her neck and make her mine, but something held me back from doing that.
Her blood is divine, the best that I have ever tasted, and believe me, I have tasted plenty of people before, but it proved that she is mine. She was designed just for me and my needs: both pleasure and pain.
“Hey, handsome,” gets purred.
Turning my head, I look down at a pixie-sized woman, a human who is smiling like she wants to eat me. Do not get me wrong, she is pretty, but I see the devious aura around her.
It is one of my vampire powers, that I can sense people’s auras. It helps from time to time, but mostly I use it to put people in their place when I know they are lying about something.
“Not interested,” I grunt and keep walking.
