Jesus.

Instead of snuffing his life out, I cut off his ear, tossing it onto the floor with a warning. “You fuck with Katie again, I’ll carve the rest of you off piece by piece.”

Like a ghost, Ace emerges from the shadows. “You want me to hold him?”

“Get him ready to see Katie.”

Ace nods and moves toward the screaming man and Slider and I walk out into the sunlight.

“Good call,” he says. “Killing her brother could be a real romantic buzzkill. It might take you a while to dig your way?—”

Slider stops mid-sentence.

“Oh shit, man…” he points toward the clubhouse. “Trouble at ten o’clock.”

Chapter Thirty-One

A very shocked guard told me where to find Skull when I held up the half-handcuff hanging from my wrist and snarled at him.

He didn’t get in my way.

Smart man.

A woman hell bent on destruction is worse than a runaway train.

God.I don’t even know who I am any more.

“There you are!” I roar like a wild animal, shouting across the gravel lot in the center of the compound as Skull and Slider walk out of a big metal building.

Skull’s switchblade glints in the sun and my heart tries to spill out from between my ribs.

“You better not have killed my brother.”

Steps speeding, I close the distance leaving dusty gravel kicking up below my cowgirl boots.

Slider holds up his hand as I steam toward the two gigantic bikers. “Easy. You’re brother’s alive.”

I barely hear him, because I am looking at Skull’s eyes and a terrible, warm glow is filling my chest.

“Hey baby,” he murmurs, giving me a lop-sided cocky grin. “I see you ruined my handcuffs. That’s a shame. I was looking forward?—”

“Ooooh. You big idiot,” when I draw back and punch him in the gut, he oofs.

“Now get out of my way. I’m going to talk to Callum.”

“Not yet.” He blocks my path.

I scoot left and try to dodge him. He’s faster.

When I go right, he blocks me on that side too.

“You two want a basketball?” Slider asks.

“Go away,” I growl.

Skull advances on me, scooping me up. “I need you to listen to me.”

“Oh, I listened all right. When you threw,I love you out,and a bunch of other junk.”
