He gives me a cocky smirk. “Always.”

I’d roll my eyes if the force of his punch didn’t have me staggering back.

“The question is, are you?”

“Of course, arsehole.”

Throwing his head back, he laughs.

As he punches the pads in quick succession, I’m more than ready this time.

“How’s the baby shower prep?” He grunts as he hits the pads again.

“Yeah, it's on track.”

I raise the pads a little higher as he pivots from one foot to the other, a determined look on his face.

A frequent gym member, Nina, I think her name is, walks by and stops to admire him with a look of lust on her face. Is this how women feel when men ogle them? Fuck, we’re arseholes.

She doesn’t get to do it for long when Meg appears at her side and says something under her breath, causing her to flush and make herself scarce.

I catch Meg’s eye and give her a knowing look. She just shrugs and mouths, “What?”

“Nothing at all,” I say out loud as she approaches.

“Nathan, you know you're my favourite, right?”

Henry snorts from where he’s still pounding the pads.

“Well, except Henry, of course,” she says, blowing him an air kiss.

Shaking my head, I laugh. “What do you want, Meghan?”

“I don’t want anything, but you know if you happened to let slip the gender, I promise not to tell.”

I drop my hands and nearly get a fist in the jaw for my trouble.

“Listen, Ethan and Lottie trusted me with this, so there is no way I’m fucking it up and telling either of you.”

She pokes out her tongue, causing Henry to let out a rumble deep in his chest as he grabs her by the waist and pulls her to his side.

“You’re a spoilsport. When did you start being so responsible, anyway?”

I shrug. “I’ve always been responsible.”

“Yeah, right,” Henry says, laughing.

Okay, maybe I haven’t, but that's beside the point.

Olly comes over as Henry pulls Meg in for a quick kiss.

“Seriously?” I ask, holding out my pad towards Olly. He fist bumps it.

Meg just rolls her eyes. “You’ll understand one day when you fall in love,” she says.

I draw my eyebrows together. “What makes you think I’ve never been in love before?”

Henry squeezes her waist, and she looks at him and then back to me.
