I begin to come back to my senses and lower my leg, and dare I say my legs do indeed feel weak. He stands to his full height, which is well over six feet tall. He’s always been so robust and athletic, whereas I couldn’t be more opposite. I’m taller than most at five foot seven, with a full figure, and the only thing you’ll ever catch me running for is an ice-cream van. And yet here we are with him staring down at me like he’s deciding all the ways he wants to ruin me.

Chapter 3

Tobias

I take in her flushed cheeks, those full, luscious lips, her pink hair loose over her shoulder as she looks up at me with those gorgeous emerald eyes of hers blown wide.

Unable to deny myself what I crave the most, I lower my face until my lips brush softly against hers, teasing at first, testing. She lets out a breath, and then we’re kissing.

My hand moves into her hair, pulling her head back to deepen the kiss.

I’ve never wanted someone as badly as I want her, right here, right now.

I’d never admit it out loud, but I’ve always admired her from afar. She’s always been a beacon of light, the way she lights up a room by simply being present. I love how she’s so animated when she talks. How she speaks her mind, but she’s not mean about it.

I love how she tastes like a sweet strawberry perfection.

It’s the familiar shrill of my phone that breaks us apart, and guilt engulfs me when I pull it out from inside my pocket, Ric’s name flashing back at me.

I clear my throat and take a step back.

She glances at the screen and then to me, a frown marring her brow. One I desperately want to smooth away, but if I give in and touch her again, I’ll be a lost cause. I know I won’t be able to stop myself from taking everything from her, and I mean everything.

“I need to take this.”

She swallows hard and nods, her usual smile replaced with a fake one, and the only reason I know it’s fake is that I’ve seen enough of her real ones to know the difference.

“I’m sorry,” I tell her, as I back away and swipe my screen, bringing the phone to my ear.

“Ric,” I say, my gaze fixed on Rainbow, the hurt expression that crosses her face makes my insides ache. But still, I back away until, reluctantly, I finally turn around and let myself out, the door closing behind me with an ominous click.

“You good?” he asks as I make my way to the lift, jabbing my thumb against the up button.

“Yeah, you?” I’ve never felt awkward talking to my best friend until now. I clear my throat and try again. “So Bow is staying at yours,” I say, looking up at the ceiling. Why am I stating the fucking obvious?

I swallow, the taste of her sweet cunt still fresh on my tongue. My dick strains against the fly of my work trousers, knowing if Ric hadn’t called when he did, I would currently have her impaled on my throbbing cock. The lift doors slide open, and I step inside, pressing the next floor.

“Yeah, I love mum and dad, but living with them as an adult is a no, even more so for Bow.”

The lift stops on my floor, and I can’t get out of there quick enough.

“I get that,” I reply, letting myself into my flat. It’s quiet, too quiet—unlike any other day, something I usually welcome—but today it bothers me, and I don’t know why.

Maybe because it doesn’t smell like her, because I just left her after making her come on my tongue and fingers.

“Tobias, hello. Are you still there?”

“Shit, yeah, sorry. It’s been a busy day at work,” I lie. Okay, yeah, it was busy, but that’s not what has my focus right now. I walked away from Bow, her sweet, wet cunt primed and ready to take me.

Fuck me, I need a cold shower.

“How is New York?” Investment banking may not be the most exciting career, but it offers many opportunities that have grown over time.

“It’s good. Busy, busy, you know how it is. Shit, man, I need to go, but keep an eye on Bow for me, okay?”

I nod. “Yeah, you know you never even have to ask,” I say honestly.

“Thanks, Tobs, you’re the best. Catch you later.”
