I don’t wait for her to reply and head to my ensuite. Stripping, I crank the water to cold and shower in record time.
When I return dressed in a t-shirt and grey joggers, I find her perched on one of the kitchen stools, sipping on her wine.
She smiles as I approach her.
There’s something about her being in my space, looking like she belongs here, that does weird things to me. And I find myself wanting to pick up right where I left off, that is, until my phone buzzes.
It’s like de-ja-vu.
It vibrates on the counter where I left it—a message from Ric flashes on the screen. I glance at Bow and grab it, keeping my eyes on her as she worries her bottom lip.
Ric: Did Bow manage to get a key?
Me: She will, yeah. Just feeding her first.
I decide to go with the truth.
Ric: Okay, cool. Thanks, man, you’re a good friend.
I swallow the guilt at the last part, because I know my intentions aren’t all innocent.
Bow pushes to her feet and hooks her thumb over her shoulder. “I should go.”
I grab her hip and shake my head. “No, please stay.”
She glances at my phone and then back to me, so I turn it around. Her eyes roam over the messages.
“Yeah, okay, I’ll stay.”
Now it’s my turn to laugh. “You could try and sound a little more enthusiastic about it.”
She rolls her eyes, and I back her up against the counter.
“Let’s be honest, I’m sure there are better things you could be doing on a Friday night,”she says, showing rare vulnerability I’m not used to seeing from her, and I don’t like it, not one single iota.
I raise my brow. “Yeah, I could be doing you.”
Her lips part on a shocked breath. Because yeah, I’ve already crossed a line and she’s going to learn very quickly that now I’ve had a taste, I want more—so much more.
I lean closer, watching her eyes flutter closed before my lips graze the shell of her ear. “But for now, I’ll settle on dinner.”Unable to deny myself, I press a kiss just below her ear. “And if I’m really lucky, maybe you’ll let me eat you again. Only this time for dessert.”
When I pull back, her pupils are dilated, and it takes every ounce of my self-restraint to keep from devouring her whole.
Chapter 6
Rainbow
Good guys like Tobias aren’t meant to talk like that, are they? I never imagined he’d be so, so vocal. It’s a side of him I’ve never seen before. Is that because usually he’s with Ric, and this is the first time we’ve been alone like this?
I swallow hard. As someone who normally has no problem saying what’s on their mind, I seem to find myself momentarily at a loss for words. Those grey jogging bottoms aren’t doing anything to help my cause, either. And I don’t even like them on other men. It would appear he’s the exception. I might as well enjoy myself, no matter how brief it might be. For tonight, I don’t want to think or talk myself out of all the reasons this is a bad idea. I just want to feel.
Even though I’m tall, I still need to go up on my tiptoes to grab the back of his neck and pull his mouth down to mine.
Go big or go home, right?
He freezes at first, but then his lips part, and he’s kissing me. It’s nothing like the kiss from earlier. No, this one is pure heat, raw, and full of passion.
Tobias pulls back, his dark eyes holding mine captive. “You’re playing a very dangerous game, sweet cheeks.”
