Cesare took another drink and looked towards thebalcony contemplatively.

“Pops got out after we lost...” Cesare cleared his throat, and squeezed Sabrina's hand tighter, finally looking back to her waiting gaze.

“Pops wasn’t the same when he came home. The world he left was gone, and so was his wife. He was lost, and I think it accelerated whatever it is that’s happening in his head.” Cesare let out a long breath, taking Sabrina’s hand in his.

“People started talking. Word traveled, and Vincent remained, no questions asked. With the exception of myself and my brothers, Vincent has killed off or scared off any other capable competitors. But now,” Cesare nodded towards the black envelope on the drink cart. “As long as this isn’t some sick fucking trap, Vincent Donatelli is naming me his heir.”

Sabrina listened, looking down at their intertwined fingers. “How do we confirm its reliable information and not a trap?” She asked, looking up.

“I received confirmation of a recent medical diagnosis last night.” Cesare swallowed. “Vincent Donatelli doesn’t have much time left.”

Sabrina eyed Cesare carefully. “Does this have anything to do with Dante arriving out of the blue?”

Cesare’s mouth moved as if to answer, before he hesitated, looking over Sabrina with the same considering look from earlier. “Wives can’t be forced to testify against husbands. But we haven’t filed a legal marriage license yet.”

He brought her hand up to his and kissed the back of it. “I want to get that filed. Today.”

Sabrina furrowed her brows, and she stared down at their intertwined fingers. “I married a lawyer.” She muttered, almost to herself. “And even that’s about to change.” She looked back up at Cesare, keeping her hand in his as she re-evaluated the man in front of her.

“You did.” He answered calmly. “And I married a girl who rescues sharks. For fun.” He grinned, eyeing her appreciatively.

Sabrina reflected that marrying Cesare hadn’t seemed like much of a decision, so much as something inevitable that simply happened sooner than planned. Knowingly choosing to stay withsomeone about to become an organized crime boss, however, would be one hell of a decision.

Cesare swallowed thickly. “I know this changes things, but I was raised for this, tesoro. I will give you the world; give you anything you could ever want. I will protect you, and protect our home. But I need you to be in this with me. Together.”

Sabrina furrowed her brows, deep in thought, looking back to Cesare. “Why five million?” She asked.

He seemed confused for a moment before understanding dawned. His brows lifted. “You want to discuss the prenup?”

Sabrina shook her head. “Not really, but I would like to know why you offered me what you did. You could have picked any amount to start. Why five million?”

For a moment, Cesare looked almost shy, before giving her a smug grin. “A million for each time you called me daddy.”

Sabrina’s eyes widened as she threw her head back with a laugh. “Are you serious?”

Cesare took her wineglass and set it on a nightstand before bodily dragging Sabrina onto his lap. She straddled his muscular thighs and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Stay.” He whispered against her lips.

Sabrina kissed him, luxuriating in the simple pleasure of being in his arms.

“I love you, Cesare.” She murmured, looking up to meet his gaze.

“Oh, thank god.” He gave a pained exhale as his blue eyes flashed in relief. Cesare leaned forward against Sabrina resting his forehead against the hollow of her throat. After a moment he placed a tender kiss on the spot before pulling back to look her inthe eyes. “I love you too.” He answered, reaching up to cradle her head in his hands. “Say you’ll stay. We’ll file the license today.”

“I’ll stay.” She answered, kissing him softly.

“Again.” He demanded.

Sabrina smiled into the kiss.

“I’m staying.” She answered, feeling like everything in her life had led to this moment.

“Again. Say it again.” He whispered hoarsely as he kissed her in response.

“I’m staying. This is my spot.” Sabrina spoke as she deliberately ground her hips into his. “My husband.” She reached down to stroke his hardening cock. “Whatever comes.”

Cesare groaned when one of Sabrina’s soft hands wrapped around his thick length and nipped along the sensitive skin of his neck.
