Clutching the bag tightly, she paced away from the mansion. It was after twenty minutes when the mansion drifted from her sight. By this time, she was started to feel dizzy. She regretted skipping meals and her medicines. But there was nothing she could do now. Though she had packed some snacks, she wasn’t going to waste them now.
After jogging for another forty minutes, Amara finally saw divergent in the one-way road. She looked between the two roads. Where should she go now? She didn’t know where they led. Closing her eyes, she pointed her finger at one side.“One,” and then another.“Two.” And then pointed at the first one.“Three,” she repeated this until she counted thirty. Her finger pointed at right side on thirty.
Amara turned towards left side. She had only walked some meters towards the curve when she saw heard a vehicle accelerating from forward. Swallowing hard, she quickly sprinted towards the bushes and hid behind them. She could see the headlights. But then as the car approached less than 700 meters away, a cat came out of nowhere and jumped on the road.
Amara feeling panicked, completely driven by her instincts hushed the act, but it didn’t move away. Stumbling forward and she let out a loud scream rushing towards the kitten in the middle of the road, while the sound of distant thunder filled the air. Her limbs ached and there was a sharp pain in her head as she picked the kitten in her arms.
But before she could move out of the road, her vision was suddenly blinded by an approaching car, leaving her unable to react in time. Another scream tore through her mouth when the tires of the car screeched towards her.
CHAPTER 64
Amara was prepared to get hit by the car. But what surprised her when the car stopped just an inch away from her. And at the next second, she heard the door opening with a loud slam and thudding footsteps.
She swallowed and put the kitten down, and said while looking up.“I am so sorry, the cat…”
Her words died in her mouth. Eyes widened on reflex and a gasp left her mouth when her eyescollided with his fierce-grey gaze. Amara didn’t know what to name this feeling.
Before she could even take a step, his hand closed around her arm in a painful grip, his fingersdigging into her flesh as he seethed with anger.

Amara's heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to find her voice, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty. This wasn't how things were supposed to go—fate couldn't possibly be playing this cruel game with her. She should have taken a different route. When she didn't respond, he leaned in closer, his grip tightening painfully around her hair as he yanked her head back. The sudden motion sent sharp pain shooting through her scalp, and tears welled up in her eyes.
“What the fuck are you doing here, Amara?" His voice was demanding, each word laced with anger and suspicion. Amara's heart pounded in her chest, fear coursing throughher veinsas she struggled to forma coherent response. She could feel the tension in the air thickening, knowing that she had to choose her words carefully if she wanted to escape this situation unscathed.
She tried to push him away but his body was unmoving.
Kaelith no longer felt like a mere human; he felt like a beast unleashed from its cage, his rage consuming him from within. It surged through him like a tidal wave, overwhelming his senses and clouding his judgment. He was startled to see her standing there in the middle of the road, a surge of panic gripping him at the sight. What if something had happened to her?
His mind raced with a flurry of emotions—anger, fear, concern—as he struggled to make sense of the situation. The thought of her being in danger sent a shiver down his spine, igniting a primal instinct to protect her at all costs.
Amara caught him off guard, wrenching herself free from his grasp and making a desperate attempt to flee. But Kaelith was quick to react, his movements fluid as he swiftly closed thedistance between them. His arms encircled her torso, lifting her effortlessly off the ground as she struggled against him.
"Oh, no, no, no," he growled, his voice dripping with frustration. "You don't get to run."
"No! Let me go!" Amara's voice was laced with desperation, her heart pounding in her chest as she fought against his hold. But Kaelith remained resolute, his grip unyielding as he carried her towards the waiting car.
Throwing her into the back seat, Kaelith swiftly child-locked the car doors before taking his place in the driver's seat. Amara watched in horror as he loosened his tie with a swift motion, the fabric hanging loosely around his neck. He slammed his fist against the hood of the car, a guttural growl escaping his lips.
The sound reverberated through the air, sending shivers down Amara's spine as she recoiled in fear. She had never seen him like this before— his usually composed demeanor replaced by a volatile rage that seemed to consume him entirely. The intensity of his anger was palpable, filling the confined space of the car with an oppressive tension that left her feeling trapped and helpless.
"Kaelith, please!" Amara's voice cracked with desperation, tears streaming down her cheeks as she pleaded with him. She felt her heart pounding in her chest as he accelerated the car to high speed, the rush of wind whipping through the open windows.
As they raced towards the mansion, Amara's mind raced with a jumble of thoughts and emotions. She couldn't believe she had gotten herself into this mess. Despite her fear, she couldn't help but marvel at how quickly they reached their destination—it hardly took ten minutes to arrive.
As the gates of the mansion loomed into view, Amara's stomach churned with anticipation and dread. She clasped her hands together, her heart in her throat as she silently prayed for a miracle, hoping against hope that somehow, she would find a way out of this terrifying torment.
But her prays were unheard. Kaelith opened the door and then reached for hers. His eyes burring charcoal as he glared at her and grabbed her by the arm, and jerked her out.
She stumbled as the guards around watched with confusion.
“Kaelith!”
Amara cried out as Kaelith roughly lifted her, slinging her over his shoulder with a force that knocked the bag from her grasp, sending it tumbling to the ground with a heavy thud. She pounded her fists against his back, her efforts feebleagainst his solid frame as he carried her effortlessly into the mansion.
