“So, that’s the level De Lucas has lowered to. Bringing his mistress out in public when you’re engaged to my cousin,” Hilary narrowed her eyes. Roman fidgeted on his feet. His eyes all while moving to Kaelith.

“Well, the engagement’s off. See you soon, Hilary.” Kaelith shrugged his shoulders.

"What the fuck are you saying?" she demanded, her voice rising with disbelief as she struggled to process the sudden turn of events.

Kaelith met hergaze, his expressionunreadable as he deliveredanotherblow. "There willbe no marriage," he declared, his tone firm and unwavering.

She glared at him, her fists clenched.“You agreed.”

“I never said I’d marry Anna.”

“We signed a damned contract.“ Kaelith chuckled.

"Iown70percentsharesofyourfather'sbusiness,andsoonit'llbe100.Don'tfuckwithme, Hilary. You know I'm a hilarious person when it comes to destroying," he smirked.

Her eyes narrowed with defiance.

"You'll pay," she shot back, her voice laced with venom.

But Kaelith remained unfazed, his smirk widening.

"No, it's your father who will pay," he retorted, his gaze shifting to Roman with a chilling smile.

"Roman, I'd like to have a word," he called out casually, his attention already drifting away from Hilary.

Kaelith turned to Amara, pressing a kiss to her lips with a possessive intensity. "I'll be back in a few minutes. Be a good girl for me," he murmured, his words a promise lingering on her lips as he disappeared into the crowd with Roman following behind him.

Amara blinked and blinked again.

CHAPTER 73

Kaelith stood towering over his trembling frame, eyes cold as the glaciers and jaw set in a hard line. The word constantly rang in his head.

Gold-digger.

Thewordsranginhishead,andtheneedtokillintensified.Allhecouldseewasred.Thegun between his fingers casually played with the trigger. Tick-tick.

Roman’s eyes widened as Kaelith sighed. “She is pretty, isn’t she?” Kaelith bobbed his head at the glass panel. Roman fearfully followed his gaze. Amara was standing there, looking around with a nervous expression, yet she still looked adorable amidst the flashing lights. Just like someonewho didn’t belong there, out of place, just like he preferred. The shimmering dress made her look a hundred times ethereal. Kaelith wanted nothing more than to sweep her in his arms andhide her.

Roman swallowed, bobbing his head up and down rapidly.“I-I did not know-“

“Oh, by the time I’m done, you’ll know everything,” Roman looked both confused and scared, hiseyesredandmucuscomingoutofhisnosewiththetightgripoftheguardonhisneckfrom behind.

He couldn’t believe he was on Kaelith’s De Luca’s mercy in the middle of a gala, away from people’s eyes, just parted by a dainty single-way glass.

He could see everything inside, but the people inside wouldn ’ t be able to see him. He felt so foolish. How could he mess with someone as psychotic as Kaelith? The man who was known to show mercy to no one.

How could he be so stupid to get himself in this life-and-death situation just acting on impulse just because Hilary wanted to be a bitch?

Roman could only pray.

Roman swallowed hard as Kaelith tipped the gun towards the guard, and sighed before rolling the sleeves of his shirt. His eyes sparkling with sinister glint making Roman tremble.

“You see, Roman, I don’t like people talking shit about my woman.” Kaelith squatted down in front of Roman and tilted his head, biting his lips as he smirked.“And if they do, I can do things to make them shut up for good,”

Roman looked terrified as Kaelith raised his palm towards the guard as if asking for something. Roman ’ s eyes widened as the guard placed a knife in his hand.“What-WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
