“Why is it locked?” She mumbled to herself. Frowning she tried to open the door again but it didn’t budge.
Reality settled over her. Martha locked her in. Though Amara didn’ t know why she did it, she knew it must be Kaelith who told her to.
Sighing in defeat, she huffed and sat on the bed without touching the food.
When Martha returned with her medicines, she frowned at Amara’s pout and sulky eyes.“You didn’t eat the food? Is something missing? I tasted it beforehand, it was good—”
“Did he tell you to lock the door?” Amara fired with questions. Martha stilled and then tried to feign ignorance. The girl was already physically hurt, she didn’ t want to cause her emotional pain.
“What?” Martha mumbled with an awkward laugh.
Amara narrowed her eyes crossing her arms across her chest. Her eyes filled with disappointment.
“Why lock the door when you know I cannot go anywhere?” Martha looked at her and then sighed.
“Master De Luca was just being careful…” Amara snapped.
“I told you I hate being treated this way. I am not a child who needs protection or anything. He knows I cannot run from him then locking me up like an animal?” Amara’s voice filled with tears. She hated being treated like this.
Martha sighed again and grabbed Amara’s shoulders and looked into her eyes.
“ Amara…” Amara shruggedher shoulders and pulled away turningaround withher back towards Martha.
“I don’t want to eat, please. I no longer have an appetite.” She mumbled with a small voice.
“Child—” Martha started but Amara’s voice just got more intense.
“Please, Martha. Just leave me for some time.”
Martha contemplated looking at the food and the medicines. She must tell Kaelith about this. Amaraheardthedooropeningandclosingwithalockingsound.Whenshelookedoverher shoulder, Martha was not there. Amara glanced at the food. No matter how delicious the foodlooked, she wouldn’t touch that unless she was treated the right way. Kaelith couldn’t just ask his people to lock her in. It wasn’t like she’d ever run away.

Kaelith entered in all his glory. His eyes immediately found her, sitting on the bed wearing another one of the lingeries he brought for her. Now that he saw her in those flimsy little dresses, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts roam.
Amara studied him. Like always he wore a white button down, crisp and neat. She didn’t even knowhowhemanagedtochangeintothemwhenshewasinhisroom.Didhehaveanother room for himself?
The first two buttons were undone and sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The trimmed scrubby beard and perfectly styled hair add four moons to his captivating manliness.
As if sensing her gaze on him, Kaelith chuckled. Amara’s heart stopped beating for a moment as she blinked blankly at him. He gave her a once-over before tilting his head to the side.
Amara was visibly paralyzed by the intensity of his gaze.
“Why haven’t you eaten yet?” He asked.
Amara recalled the reason she was angry at him and narrowed her eyes. To him, she just looked like a small kitten scorning at him.
“Do I look like an animal to you? Why did you ask Martha to lock me up? I won’t be surprised if you start putting a leash on my neck to keep me in control.” She snapped.
Kaelith raised his brow wondering where this was coming from and the. He recalled that he instructed Martha to keep the door locked. He knew Amara wouldn’t hesitate if she was given an opportunity, and this was what would cause problems for him.
He took a slow yet predatory step towards her. Her keen eyes filled with anticipation and something even unknown to her as she watched him walking towards her. Tall and masculine. Her eyes unconsciously wandered to his biceps as they flexed with the way he was moving, the buttons of the shirt holding on for dear life.
Her throat suddenly felt patched as timidly tried to scramble away. But Kaelith was faster, his large hand was moving to settle over the side of her face making her breath hitch and her insides tingle.
“Now that you said it,” he muttered looking down at her lips. “I don’t think you need a leash around your neck, little one.” His voice became husky and deep. “My hands are enough.” The width of his palm enclosed her throat as he pulled her to his chest.
A breathless gasp left Amara’ s lips as she looked startled at him. The intense heat in his eyes scared yet excited the untouched nerves within. Just like he was touching her hidden parts with just his eyes alone.
