“I want a kiss. Or I will not take you out.” He whispered huskily into her ear. Amara glared at him. That was blackmail.

Sighing, she leaned and pecked his cheek.“Now let’s go.”

Kaelith frowned and tightened his hold on her small waist. Pulling her face to him, he shook her his head.“That was not a kiss. Kiss me on the lips.”

She narrowed her eyes. Cunning man. A kiss wouldn’t hurt, would it?

You’ve done more than kiss. A voice whispered in her head and she swallowed. Closing her eyes as leaned and placed herlips on his. Their lips met for a lingering second but before Kaelith could deepen the kiss, Amara pulled away, breathing heavily.

Kaelith groaned in disappointment.“That’s blasphemy, little one. You cannot just make me taste heaven and then push me down to hell. What would I do with you, Amara?”

Amara nestled her head into his neck, her heart beating loudly. The kiss lasted only a moment, yet it turned her world completely upside-down. He was right. Although she couldn't envision what heaven looked like, if it were a place, his arms would undoubtedly be it.

CHAPTER 50

Amara knelt beside the bed of flowers, her fingers delicately tracing the edges of the petals.

Kaelith watched with a rare smile on his lips as Amara’s face lit up. His eyes took in her angelic and captivating aura. Eyes that had entrapped him, made him their slaves, making him wish to seek refuge in those dark orbs.

Captivated by the cascade of her beautiful, long hair. A tender smile played on his lips as he found himself lost in the dark strands, thinking that perhaps he should dwell within their shadow. And stay there for eternity.

The desire was both overpowering and lethargic, something he hadn’t felt for anyone.

“I don’t understand why you’re so obsessed with flowers.” He asked curiously with his hands in the pockets of his dark slacks.

Amara frowned and looked up at him with glossy eyes. A small pout on her pink lips.“If you don’ t like them, then why did you plant them?”

Kaelith teased his bottom lip between his teeth as a muscle feathered in his jaw, slowlybendingdown and inhaling deeply. Her scent mixed with peonies tempted him to do things to her.

“For you.” He whispered in the air.

Amara instantly flushed at the proximity and his words, looking into his eyes, shyness dancing in hers. The breeze blew, brushing her hair off her face, and revealing her red cheeks.“For me?” she echoed, a softness entering her voice.

He nodded, closing the distance between them.“Yes, for you.”

“Why?” Kaelith was amused by her naivety. Was there a reason why the moon needed the night to shine? Why moth was drawn to flame? Instead, he opted for the simplest answer he could find to satisfy her curiosity.

He plucked a peony as Amara watched curiously. It was a soft pink pastel colour, just like the tint on her cheeks.

“Because they remind me of you,” he raised his hand and brushed the delicate peony on her cheeks as she shuddered.“Soft,” his voice became huskier and deeper as he trailed the flower down her neck.“Irresistible to touch,” gently brushing the flower on her jaw, stopping at her collarbone. Grey against a deep brown. Fire against water. Sin against redemption. “And so pure.” Amara quickly grabbed onto his wrist and grabbed the peony.

A blush crept onto her cheeks, and she took a step back, still holding the peony. “I never thought of myself that way.”

She met his gaze, a warmth spreading through her as his fingers lingered on her cheek.“Youhave a way with words.”

“It's easy when I’m inspired,” he whispered, his thumb tracing a gentle path along her jawline. A soft breeze rustled the leaves, and the air seemed charged with an unspoken desire. He took her hand; the flower still nestled in her fingers.

The clouds rumbled, dark and chaotic. Amara paused, sensing the looming change. A low rumble resonated throughthe skies as she looked into his eyes. There was something strange in his eyes, something so familiar and yet unfamiliar at the same time. A blurred picture flashed before her eyes for a minute second before it vanished. Amara frowned. What was that? A glimpse of her past? A memory she had forgotten?

A single raindrop fell on her hand. And just like that, her gaze shifted from him to the skies above. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of anxiousness and joy as she extended her hand, feeling the cool touch of the rain. Another drop, and then more. They both stood as Kaelith couldn’t take his eyes off her and the rain intensified.

Amara let the raindrops kiss her skin. The scent of wet earth mingled with the heady fragrance of flowers, creating an intoxicatingperfume that envelopedher. Her eyes closedand herlips curled in a smile.

The clouds overhead rumbled again.
