“I prefer the Seth.”
His deep laugh rumbles through his chest. “Fine.”
He lifts the mask, and the grin I’ve come to love more than anything comes back into view.
“There’s my husband,” I whisper as he leans down and kisses me.
His kisses are gentle at first but quickly deepen until he’s lifting the edge of my silky nightgown to expose my bare pussy to his gaze.
“Beautiful,” he says, admiring my body. He brushes his mouth across my stomach before working his way back up. When he gets to my chest, he captures one of my nipples in his mouth and flicks it with his tongue.
“Do you want your surprise now or later?” he murmurs.
“Now,” I say, breathless.
He grins and hops off the bed, disappearing into the hallway. He returns seconds later carrying two plates of angel food cake.
I sit up immediately. “No.”
His grin widens. “Yes.”
“This is our wedding cake? You saved it?” My eyes immediately mist over as he hands me a fork. I spear a bite and taste the dessert. It’s perfect. Still soft and decadent, made by a local bakery here in Brookhaven. Two bites and I’m back at ourwedding, standing in front of our friends and family, trying not to cry while Seth and I exchange vows.
“I knew it mattered to you,” he says simply.
I set my plate down and throw my arms around his neck. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“I mean it. You’ve always remembered the things that matter to me.”
I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him back to me. He sets his plate aside without breaking the kiss until he's notching himself against my entrance and pressing inside. The stretch of him pulls a sound out of me that I don’t bother holding in. His fingers find my clit and his mouth moves to my breasts until I'm shaking, coming around him, and he follows me until he’s releasing deep inside me.
When we finish, he carries me to the top of the bed and rests me on his chest. Angel food cake in hand, he feeds me the rest of the slice.
“This is the best thirtieth birthday ever.”
“It’s not done,” he says softly, brushing my hair from my cheek. He reaches over and hands me his phone. “Press play on the video.”
I hit play.
“Hi Bri! Happy thirtieth birthday.”
My hand flies to my mouth. “You didn’t?”
His grin deepens. “I did. Keep watching.”
I keep watching, though the tears in my eyes are making everything blurry now.
“When Seth reached out and told us a little about your love story, we just knew we had to wish you a happy birthday. We hope this year is your best one yet, and that you continue believing in the romance and magic that can exist in marriage.”
Mr. Wellington leans into the frame next to his wife.“It’s true. It only gets better when you marry the right person.”
I choke out a sob and look at Seth. He’s smiling tenderly at me.
“You contacted them?”
He smiles. “Asked my agent to. Told him not to ask any questions.”
