Olivia.

I almost said her name out loud, but as the person came closer, I realized that was not the case.

“Ivy.” Her name tasted like ash in my mouth.

I hadn’t seen her since she graduated two years ago.

“Why do you feel guilty? Did you kill my sister?”

Ivy’s words were sharp and cold.

All I could do was shake my head.

“I just… We were friends…and…we let a stupid boy come between us.”

At my words, Ivy’s face lost the sharpness it harbored.

“Nothing like death to make you see what’s important,” she said, looking right at me. She took a deep breath and looked at all the girls. She wasn’t our president—she hadn’t been in the longest time—but the moment she spoke, it was like she had never left us.

“My sister loved this house. She loved this sorority. Please don’t fuck it up. Honor her memory, and please don’t do anything to get into more trouble with Panhellenic.” She took a step back. “I finished packing up L-Livy’s room. If you find anything, please let me know.”

No one said a word as she walked away.

I got up and nodded toward Micah to come with me.

As he reached me, Amelia opened her mouth, closed it, and then finally spoke. “You should probably tell Grayson about Panhellenic as well.”

Micah stood straighter and looked more alert. He was somewhat confused as to why Amelia said that. “He already talked to the cops along with the rest of the hockey team.”

Hailey and all the girls looked at us as if we had grown two heads.

“We all saw Gray walking around in his mask. Didn’t he walk up to you, Ava?”

“I was with Micah most of the party,” I lied, because the way they looked at me, I didn’t want to be the odd one out.

“He walked up to all of us. He was nodding his head to the music…just vibing,” one of the girls said.

“Grayson?” Micah questioned in disbelief.

“Yeah, he had the mask, and his jersey saidCrosson the back.”

Micah and I shared a look. My skin got goosebumps, and I already didn’t have a good feeling about this.

“Did he say anything?” I was afraid of the answer.

“Nothing…”

Some of the girls looked at each other until finally someone said what they all had clearly discussed before this. “We figured he might have been a little high, and we didn’t want to draw attention to it and get him in trouble with the hockey team.”

“Grayson doesn’t smoke.” Micah’s tone was insistent.

“Hey, we’re just saying what we saw.”

“He didn’t seem to mind when Livy wrapped her hands around him.”

“Yeah.” Hailey nodded. “He and Livy had been going back and forth for so long we thought they were finally getting it together, ya know?”

Fuck.
