He just grinned, grabbed his glass of water, and took a sip.
“Daddy?”Peter whispered.“Sister is sleeping.”
“She’s very full.”Ian stood to take her upstairs.“Finish your lunch, son.”
Oh lord, she’d eaten herself into a food coma.JP shook his head and grabbed that grilled cheese triangle he’d put down.He dipped it and took a bite.
“You’re almost done that piece. How many have you had?”he asked Peter.
“Somany.”
He thought maybe two.
“Did you like it dunked in the soup?”
“Uh-huh.It’s yummy.I like it out too.”Peter smiled at him.“I like you, Dad.”
“And I like you too, Petey. In fact, I love you.”
“You do?”His son’s eyes lit up.“I love you too!”
He opened his arms, and Petey flew into them.He hugged his son tight, holding him close.
Peter snuggled right in, arms around his neck.“I’m so glad you remembered where home was.”
“I’m glad too, Petey.I really am.”Like incredibly so.
This silver lining was getting so it was hard to see the clouds at all.
ChapterNineteen
Ian was really getting tired of quick jerk off sessions in the shower.
He knew JP wasn’t healed, and he wasn’t going to push, but…
He wondered if JP was…less interested than he used to be.
Maybe something would happen when JP was done reading to the kids. They’d had a really nice day, despite the rain, and the bedtime routine had been easy, almost too easy. But then things were different now that there were two of them.
He finished cleaning up the kitchen, just making sure everything was okay.Maybe they could watch a movie or something.
His phone buzzed with a text from JP.
kids finally asleep help me shower?
Sure love.b right up
He grabbed a glass of water and headed upstairs.
JP was already in the bathroom, sitting on the chair in the shower, pulling his T-shirt up over his head, exposing all those amazing muscles.
“Hey, you.How many stories did you read?”He took the T-shirt from his lover.
“Four.Every time I thought I was done, Peter would ask for another one.Tori was out before I’d even gotten halfway through the first one.”JP moved on to his sweats, undoing them and then raising himself to get them off his butt and down his thighs.
He chuckled as he knelt down and got JP’s socks and shoes, then the rest.“That little boy loves his books.”
“You know yesterday I totally thought he could read all the words in this one book, and then I realized he just knew all the words from memory and when to turn the pages.”JP chuckled.“Soon, though, right?Junior Kindergarten is in September…”
