She had no idea. It was too intense and she had to stop. It wasn’t the way she had planned. To hell with it. It was happening again . . .
But it was Lynch and that was enough.
She was lost again . . .
“Beautiful . . .”
Kendra heard Lynch’s murmur as his lips sucked hard and then more softly on her left nipple. “Why don’t you turn over and let me—give these lovely things a little more specialized attention.”
Kendra opened her eyes and looked up at him. Though the bedroom was still as dark as when she’d first come to him several hours ago, she could see his eyes glittering down at her. “I have no complaints about the amount of attention you’ve given me.” Her body was aching, singing, going taut even now with the response that memory was igniting. She laughed. “And I’d be very selfish to demand any more from you.”
“But I like the thought of a demanding woman.” He bent down and rubbed his cheek against her breast. “It excites me.”
“I can tell.” It excited her, too, but she had to get back to what she’d originally intended this time with him to accomplish. “But I wanted to talk to you.”
He sighed. “I vaguely remember you mentioning that, but it seemed to get lost in the translation.” He smiled. “Because it was such a long, intricate, and beautiful translation.” He rubbed against her again before he raised himself on his elbow to look down at her. “Are you still annoyed with me? I thought that perhaps we’d reached a solution with which we both agreed.”
“I was hurt and bewildered,” she said quietly. “It may take a while to forgive you for being such an asshole. But since you were so very accommodating to me, the least I can do is listen to what you have to say.”
Lynch reached over and turned on the bedside lamp. “But if it was important enough to originally bring you here for a discussion, then we’d better pay attention to it.” He sighed. “But I can’t do that until I remove temptation.” He got out of bed, jerked off the top sheet, then sat back down and wrapped it around her naked body. “That should do it.” He moved to a chair, put his legs on the bed, and crossed them. “By all means, proceed.”
“Haven’t you forgotten something? You’re still naked.”
His smile was full of mischief. “That’s your problem. My aim is to keep this discussion quick so that we can get back to something more entertaining. I’m very comfortable.” He waved his hand. “Go ahead. Any way I can escalate or help, just let me know.”
“Would a glass of cold water dropped on that naked body of yours help?” she asked caustically.
“Not a bit. In fact, it might tend to be erotic and add to the excitement.”
“Then I’ll stop playing games and just tell you the truth. I don’t know if you realize how upset I was at the way you manipulated me and arranged everything the way you thought it should go since you took on this assignment.”
His smile disappeared. “I understood, and I’m sorry that I couldn’t think of any other way. It’s just . . . I trust you more than anyone else on earth. I promise to always discuss it with you and get your input. I know you have great ideas of your own.”
“I do,” she said grimly. “You might find I have a few solutions of my own that you wouldn’t appreciate.”
“I dread the thought,” Lynch said. “You’d be a formidable opponent. I much prefer to be on the same team.” His tone softened. “But that’s where I am anyway. Even if you don’t recognize it, that’s where I’ll remain. You’re not going to get rid of me. It’s like a forever thing. I don’t mean to scare you off, but I need you to start thinking that way, too. Don’t worry, I won’t box you in a corner. I’m not going to push too hard, and we’ll set our own rules. But we’ve got a good thing going, don’t you think?”
“Lynch.”
He held up his hands. “And you’ve got to admit that our sex is really fantastic.”
“That goes without saying.”
He tilted his head, gazing at her curiously. “Is there something else you’d like to ask me about?”
“I’m sure I’ll find a few thousand things you’ve hidden away that I don’t know about.” She added quickly, “But you have the right to ask me anything, too. Feel free to do that.”
He shook his head. “Nah, I’d rather learn all about you from experience. You haven’t disappointed me yet.” He paused. “Are we done yet?”
“I hope not. We seem to be almost on the same page.” She smiled. “But you can change in a heartbeat.”
“Not about you.” He had a sudden thought. “What else were you talking about with Stevie that caused you to come running to me? Besides the discourse on the philosophy regarding perfection.”
“She was just talking about her father and how much she respected him. Which led to you, whom she obviously has aking-size superhero crush on, and she was wondering if she could live up to your expectations.”
“So you decided to check me out again and see if she was wrong about me?”
“No, I told her you had a few superhero qualities but she shouldn’t tell you because it would go to your head.”
