“Not really,” I grumbled, dropping my head in my hands. At least not in the way she’d implied.
I desperately wanted to tell Faith about what had happened last night between Sabine and me, but it was still too new, too delicate, and I wanted to keep it to myself for a little while longer.
When I looked back up at the goddess of all my desires, Sabine was gone. I barely caught sight of her before she pushed out of the back door of the mess hall, probably needing to leave early for a shift somewhere else around camp.
“I’m going to go catch a quick nap before Hexes 101,” I announced, then made a beeline toward the back door.
I wove through the crowd and used the same door before I missed her completely. The short steps led to a secluded dirt path that circled around to the front of the mess hall. It was probably used by campers more than staff since the side door to the kitchen was around the corner to my left.
I decided to take a chance on the opposite corner to the right and ran right into Sabine.
“Hey!” I said, trying not to sound breathless and playing off pinching my side as a casual hand on my hip.
Sabine’s eyebrows lifted as she turned around, and a smile dawned on her lips, lighting up her whole face.
“Hey,” she replied before looking around.
To one side was the lake, and to the other was an overgrown honeysuckle bush that obscured the mess hall windows above us. It wouldn’t take much for someone to see us if they walked out of the back door, but otherwise, we were surrounded by woods and water.
“I was hoping I’d run into you today,” she said, her smile stretching from ear to ear.
“Oh yeah?”
“Mm-hmm.” She inched closer. “I had a question I’ve been wanting to ask you all morning.”
My legs trembled as she got within a hair’s breadth of me. “What’s that?”
She reached out and tucked a finger in the waistband of my skirt. “You wore this skirt just to torture me, didn’t you?”
I grinned, leaning forward until we were chest to chest. “It may have crossed my mind.”
“I was going to ask you if you wanted to go on another boat ride tonight,” she murmured, her breath whispering across my lips. “But I don’t think I can wait until nightfall.”
My eyebrows lifted. “What’s one more summer, hmm?”
“What’s one more summer?” she echoed and closed the distance.
Her lips were so soft, her kisses so skilled, as if she knew exactly how to move in just the way I liked. Maybe it was her magic, maybe she just intuitively knew my every move, but not once did we bang teeth or bump noses as we launched ourselves at each other.
Her hands tangled in my hair, and her tongue dove into my mouth, setting me on fire.
She broke our kiss only long enough to say, “Oh, I know why you wore this skirt.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah,” she said before giving me a long, deep kiss, then dropping to her knees.
Holy fucking goddess.
I leaned back against the wall of the mess hall, the loud chatter of the campers drifting out from the window above. “Wh-what are you doing?” I rasped, even as I spread my legs wider.
Sabine’s hand slid up my calf, skimming across my thigh and tracing the line of my underwear. “What am I doing?” she taunted. “I’m doing exactly what you hoped I’d do when you put on this skirt,” she said. “Isn’t that right, city girl?”
“Yes,” I choked out as she moved the fabric of my underwear to the side.
I really wished I’d worn something sexy and lacy instead of sensible cotton underwear. But it seemed like the sort of thing Sabine would approve of. Outdoorsy girls didn’t go hiking in lace thongs. My mind drifted to a vision of Sabine in nothing but black lace underwear, and I shuddered at the thought. The vision quickly dissipated when Sabine pulled my responsible panties down my legs and over my tennis shoes. I looked down just as she tucked them into her back pocket.
Before I could protest or worry about bending over later, her hot breath brushed over my sex. At the first long stroke of her tongue, I threw my head back, hitting the wall so hard I was worried for a second that someone might hear.
