They got Mateo through the window, then Zhang switched places with Jade to help Sebastian keep Mateo on his feet. “The staff has discovered we’re missing,” said Zhang.

Sebastian could hear the rising clamor in the house. Jade ran ahead, and the car doors opened themselves as they staggered toward Wesley’s Bentley.

The car was already running. “Paranormals, let’s go,” Wesley barked, as Sebastian and Zhang hurriedly got the half-conscious Mateo into the backseat. “Chop fucking chop, gents.”

The manor’s front door opened. “Lord Fine!” the butler shouted, sprinting toward them.

Wesley began to drive, the car doors still open. Jade said something very unladylike as the car doors began slamming themselves shut.

Mateo cracked an eye. “Quien es ese?”

How the hell did Sebastian explain who Wesley was? “Um,” he said awkwardly, as Wesley took the Bentley speeding down the drive.

“Miss Robbins—” Wesley started.

“I’ve got it,” Jade said, and Sebastian heard the creaking metal as the gates threw themselves wide open for the car.

“You’re a treasure.” Wesley tore through the gates, then hung a right so sharp and quick that Zhang swore and Sebastian had to grab the front seat to keep from falling.

Wesley’s eyes were on the road, but he said, “Sebastian, are you hurt?”

“I’m okay, thank you, Wesley.”

Wesley?Zhang mouthed at Sebastian, one eyebrow up.

Oops. But that explanation could wait for another day.

Wesley said something to Jade, who replied, but Sebastian’s attention had returned to Mateo, whose eyes had concerningly closed again. “Ella dice que sí,” came the mumble, “y todos están tan felices en su boda.”

“Oh no.” Sebastian leaned over him, bracing himself. “Teo, stop.”

“What’s going on?” Zhang asked.

“He’s seeing again,” said Sebastian. “Probably your future, he can’t see mine and you’ve got your hand on him.”

Zhang glanced at where his hand was on Mateo’s shoulder, making contact with the bare skin of his neck. “What did he say?”

“She says yes,”Sebastian translated distractedly,“and everyone is so happy at their wedding.”

Zhang made a strangled sound.

Sebastian suddenly realized what he had said. He looked up to see Zhang staring at him.

Jade turned her head. “Everything all right back there?”

Sebastian winced. “Mateo’s seeing again,” he said, loud enough to be heard over the wind. Then, under his breath, he added weakly, to Zhang, “Congratulations?”

“Tell your brother he owes me a hell of a wedding present,” Zhang muttered. Louder, he said, “We need to get him back out of his visions.”

Sebastian bit his lip, but then Wesley’s voice came from the front seat, “Can anyone else drive?”

“I’ve started learning,” Zhang said hesitantly. “But I haven’t exactly practiced on a Bentley.”

“Come on, then,” Wesley said, as he swerved to the grass at the side of the road. “I can’t be behind the wheel if Sebastian needs to use his magic, but you lot just lose your powers.” He opened the driver’s door.

Zhang opened his own door. “You did hear the part where I’m still learning?”

“Yes, Mr. Zhang,” said Wesley. “But even I wouldn’t care more for a car than Sebastian’s brother’s sanity.”
