“Who gives a fuck what other people think? Jump that dick, girl!”
I try not to smile at that remark and glance aside before responding.
“He clearly can't handle rejection, but he's about to because I'm not going to his studio tomorrow.”
She scoffs, and my attention is drawn to her.
“Good luck with that, Charley.”
I roll my eyes and throw myself back on the bed with a growl, returning my focus to the ceiling as I consider Chaos' obvious persistence. Even though the guy is probably used to having whatever woman he wants, I walked out of that big ass mansion and never looked back, which clearly has never happened to him before.
That is all it is—my refusal to let him have me. I have a feeling he is the type of guy who enjoys the chase, so let's see how far he is willing to go since my stubborn ass isn't going anywhere tomorrow.
I can't lie and say I didn't enjoy his company or that he didn't put me at ease in an unusual way; I haven't felt that way since my Nana was here, but I have far too much going on in my life to be playing games. Before I can fully move on and live freely, I need to fix this problem with my stalkers.
It’s the next day and I am stepping out of the shower; I slip on my panties and bra before throwing on a black oversized hoodie and sweatpants, readying myself for a day of study. While I am drying my long, brown hair with a hair dryer, there is a loud knock on the bathroom door.
“Come in!”
I switch off the hairdryer and place it on the counter just as Lucy walks in, but she's not alone; Cody strides in behind her.I straighten up while looking between them both, an uneasy feeling settling in my stomach.
“Yeah?”
Cody leans back against the wall, his foot raised on it, and lights a cigarette, which might easily get us kicked off-site. My gaze is quickly drawn to Lucy, who only gives me a hesitant smile as if she is not prepared to say anything to him, so I do.
“Cody, could you please put out the cigarette? You're going to get us both booted off campus.”
He raises an eyebrow, plainly unfazed, and takes another long drag before speaking calmly.
“Luce said you're planning on not seeing Chaos today?”
I sigh, roll my eyes, and grit my teeth while glancing away in frustration.
“I have a message for you if you're not coming with us.”
My eyes dart to him, and his lips lift into a wicked grin.
“He said that if you don't, he'll come here and cause fucking chaos.”
Lucy curls her lips inward, trying not to laugh, and I narrow my eyes, fixing my focus on her. When her face falls expressionless from my stern look, I return to Cody and fold my arms over my chest in a stubborn stance. When he pushes himself away from the wall and stands tall, he gazes down at me.
“So, what's it going to be?”
My jaw clenches, and I'm pissed that Chaos is trying to put me in this position. I do not want to see him, but I also don't want himto come here and fuck up my chances at school, so what do I do? I am just going to have to go down there and tell him to leave me the hell alone. Maybe I didn't make my feelings clear enough the last time I saw him. I grind my teeth as I bite on my words, facing away.
“Fine.”
Cody leans over me, switches on the water in the washbasin, extinguishes his cigarette, and speaks near my ear.
“Good choice, cub; you're learning.”
My furious eyes roll once again, and I side-eye them as they walk out of the bathroom together. When they are gone, I place my hands on the counter in front of me and lower my head, inhaling deeply.Fuck’s sake, Chaos.I peer into the mirror scanning myself until my eyes land on my make-up-free face. I let out a loud groan before leaving the bathroom and following them to Cody's car.
I am anxious, to say the least, as I sit in the backseat while we drive, staring out the tinted window beside me and considering every possible scenario. As we approach downtown, I take in the sights of New York City, starting to wonder who might see me here until Cody pulls up and side-eyes me over his shoulder.
“This is the spot. His studio is on the top floor.”
My face twists with confusion.
