“But shouldn't we just leave it all there and call the cops?”

As I speak, I shake my head.

“Luce, it is a waste of time. There was nothing taken.”

I draw a huge breath and turn to face her after a moment of silence.

“What did Cody say?”

She stares at me blankly before gazing down at her phone in her hand.

“He wants me to stay with him tonight, and he will pick me up after he has been to the gym.”

Before she continues, I offer her a slight nod and spin around.

“But I said no, because I don't want to leave you here on your own.”

I shake my head as I push my bed back against the wall with every ounce of my strength.

“I'm fine, Lucy; I'd feel better if you were somewhere more secure.”

“But Char—”

I snap out of nowhere, feeling frustrated.

“Lucy, please!”

When I realize I am acting like an utter bitch, I close my eyes and turn around to face her. My eyes soften when I gaze at her, and I speak gently.

“I really want you to go and stay with Cody.”

She observes me, her lips forming a flat line before nodding hesitantly, then she responds.

“I told him to tell Chaos what’s happened, so you could maybe stay there with him.”

I crack a little smile at her, trying to put her mind at ease.

“If not, I promise I will be fine.”

I turn around once more, thinking that if these bastards are going to show up tonight, I want them to; It's about time I confronted them, scared or not. This cannot continue; they’re getting out of control.

As the day turns into evening, me and Lucy have spent most of our time putting everything back where it once was. I watch from my bed with my knees up to my chest as she packs a bag for herself.

“What if this has something to do with Chaos and Reign?”

My brows pinch with confusion when she says that and she side-eyes me while I respond.

“Why the hell would it have anything to do with them?”

She sighs and takes a seat on the foot of her bed, gazing at me.

“You do know they are the Mafia, don't you?”

I cock my head to the side with puzzlement.

“I thought you said their grandfathers were?”

“They were until they died.”
