CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

bloom

Thingsbetween us had changed when we woke up.

For me, at least.

Maverick’s arms were around me, and I had no desire to move.

“Hi,” I murmured, when he started playing with my hair.

“Hey.”

It was the first time we’d woken up together without having somewhere else to be in the immediate future.

I felt a little different.

A little better.

A little… safer.

Maybe I was just more comfortable . I’d expected that what we had would end when he learned the truth.

It hadn’t, and now?

Well, now I was all-in.

“Do you have somewhere you need to be?” I asked.

“No. The challenges are over for now, and we’re at a standstill with the investment company. All I need to do at the moment is convince my mate to move in with me.”

My lips curved.“Is there an argument prepared?”

“I was originally planning on just telling her we were going to pick her things up, but I’m considering the persuasion route at the moment.”

“You could try just asking. Conversation usually works with her.”

“It does, doesn’t it?”

“Mmhm.”

“Alright. How do you feel about moving in with me, Bloom?”

“I feel like it would be a good call, at least until we find the murderer. We know my life is at risk. Harper is here. And there’s the thing where we’re fated. And engaged.”

“I guess we need to have a conversation about that, too.”

“Which part?”

“The fate bit. I obviously haven’t made it clear enough that I’m not letting you go.”

“There were unique circumstances. I’ve been convinced.”

“How convinced?”

“Convinced enough to bite you when I need to feed, if that’s still what you want.”

“You don’t have to ask. What I want has never changed.”
