Just our girl putting on a show
Not for you guys
Pestilence (Eli):
Maybe not at the time, but now we’re the only ones who have access
My cheeks heat as flames burst inside me.
Me:
Am I allowed to
I don’t hit send as I try to figure out a way to phrase it.
Me:
help myself if you guys aren’t available?
Every name pops up with dots. I bite out a laugh and shake my head.
War (Caden):
Give me ten and I’ll be there to assist you in your time of need
*winky face emoji*
*eggplant emoji*
Pestilence (Eli):
You know the rules, kitten
Apocalypse (Nico):
I volunteer as tribute!
Death (Luke):
Still needy after this afternoon, princess?
I shake my head and lie down in my bed with the chat next to me as they debate the best way to handle my request. My eyelids shut and I can’t stay awake.
My bed sinks next to me and I reach out an arm to wrap around Luke. Denim? I open my eyes to a dim light beside me in the bed. Not my phone, but Jack on his laptop. He still has on his jeans and t-shirt and a set of headphones.
When I shift to sit up, his attention focuses on me and he hits a key on his laptop.
“What time is it?” I whisper and rub the sleep from my eyes.
“One.” He removes his headphones. “You should sleep, sweetheart.”
Even in the dim light from the screen, I can see the bags under his eyes. I glance at the screen and it’s footage from the second bug in Sidney’s room.
“Is this saved?” I cock an eyebrow at him.
He nods. Good. I close the laptop and put it on the nightstand on my side.
“You need sleep, Jack.”
