“Then why date him?” I ask.

“Power.” She shrugs. “He’s hungry for it. Does anything I ask him to do.”

“Like try to rape me?”

She doesn’t flinch, but there’s a little hint of uncertainty. “What are you talking about?”

“You set up Harper on senior night.” Luke walks in behind Sidney.

She stiffens in the chair, but doesn’t turn to look at him. “Look what the cat dragged in.”

Luke looks tired but it clears the minute he steps where Sidney can see him. All she’ll see is the beautiful boy. I don’t blame her for wanting him. If he treated her half as good as he treats me, she would fight tooth and nail for him.

“This is awfully convenient, Sid.” Luke drops down in the chair across from Sidney. He relaxes back into the chair and puts his foot up on the table.

I get an instinctive reaction to tell him to get his shoe off the table, but I bite back the auto-response. He doesn’t have a care in the world. It’s an act, but Sidney doesn’t know that. She doesn’t know Luke.

She never has. Only the side he lets her see. My heart thumps.

“Did you know Zach was going to attack me at the football game?”

Her eyes narrow. “You didn’t look like you were attacked at the party.”

I swallow. Because I locked myself in a closet and held on with everything I had.

“You skunked Luke’s jersey.” Eli watches her carefully. “She went to the girls’ locker room to wash it. While she was there, your boy toy decided to have a crack at her virginity by locking her in with him.”

Sidney’s face doesn’t change much but her lips tug down a little. “I can’t speak to Zach’s plan. My only plan that night was to make Harper uncomfortable and have Luke smell me when he kissed or apparently fucked her.”

She doesn’t look even a little bit bothered by the fact the guy she’s seeing—sleeping with? Hanging out with—tried to rape me.

This school is fucked up.

“Your boyfriend offered to rape me. Even take me out on a date to make it easier.”

She smirks. “Like what these guys did is any better? At least Zach was upfront with what he wanted to do.”

What the hell is wrong with this girl?

“Seriously, Sidney? Comparing us to that asshole?” Jack strolls in and sits on the arm of the chair. “Who helped you tonight? You’re smart but not that smart.”

Sidney presses her lips together.

A settled feeling flows over me with having my guys all here and accounted for. If I could, I’d touch each of them. We need to show we’re united but I don’t want to come off as clingy.

Okay, I need to wake up and she needs to start talking.

“We obviously have a lot of questions we need answers to.” When I move to stand, Eli lifts me to my feet. “I’m going to put on a pot of coffee and by the time it finishes, you need to be ready to talk.”

Stopping beside Sidney’s chair, I give her a plastic smile. “Either to us or to the police. You can choose who.”

The room is quiet but bristling with tension as I brew a pot of coffee. Luke doesn’t move from his throne-like position. The king. Jack slips into the kitchen with me and gets mugs out of the cabinet for the coffee. He touches my hip and I smile up into his blue eyes.

It doesn’t take long before we have seven mugs of coffee ready.

Nico comes over to help us pass them out.

I hand one to Sidney. Black like her soul. Her green eyes flash up at me. She’s dressed all in black. Her blond hair is slicked back into a ponytail. She crosses her legs like she’s a guest and not being interrogated because she broke in.
