Eventually, she stirred, a sleepy hum leaving her throat. “We should probably get out.”

“Let me hold you a little longer,” I murmured, squeezing her waist. I didn’t want to let go. Not yet. Maybe not ever. “Birthday girl deserves it.”

She hummed. “My birthday’s over.”

I pressed another kiss to her shoulder then finally reached past her to turn off the shower. The sudden quiet wrapped around us as steam billowed in. I grabbed a towel and wrapped her in it before drying myself off.

“Come here,” I whispered, lifting her chin and kissing her soft—a far cry from what we’d just done. This wasn’t to start anything. It was the sweet ending to something beautiful.

Pulling back, I hooked an arm around her and guided her out of the bathroom. “Bed. You’re gonna stay in my arms until you can walk without wobbling.”

She huffed. “You’re the reason I’m wobbling.”

“Damn right.” I patted her ass gently, but I still got a squeak out of her. “And I’ll take that as a compliment.”

She climbed into the bed with a sigh that hit me right in the soul. I slid in beside her, pulled her against my chest, and tucked the covers around us.

She rested her cheek over my heart. “You okay?”

“Now I am.” I let out a quiet laugh. “Pretty sure you tried to kill me back there.”

“You liked it though, right?”

“Yeah.” I touched my lips to her forehead. “I loved it.”

She sighed. “Thank you for trusting me to try something new.”

“Pretty sure there isn’t anything I wouldn’t try if you asked.”

She blinked up at me. “Same for me. I’d like to try…everything with you.”

Somehow, my godforsaken idiot cock stirred. “We’ll get to everything. Luckily, we have lots of time for that.”

“Lucky us.”

She traced slow patterns over my chest, her touch soothing in a way that settled me down to my bones.

“Ben?” she murmured, already fading into sleep.

“Yeah, baby?”

She nuzzled into me. “I want to have a lot of nights like this with you.”

My grin stretched across my face. “Count on it.”

She drifted off before I finished stroking my hand down her back.

I stayed awake a little longer, listening to her breathe. Thinking about how I’d ended up here—Mazzy in my arms, her birthday over, me falling harder than I’d ever planned.

There was a lot about my life I would change, but today? Not a single thing.

Me:I’m screwed.

Adrian:I’ve told you many times, bragging isn’t becoming.

Nate:Are you having a problem?

Roman:Are you home from your trip? I can come over.
