Those words were my undoing.
A wave of heat flooded my core, and I arched my body and took him in even deeper, my strong and beautiful heart hammering inside as I dug my nails into Hawke’s back and shattered beneath him with a thunderous cry ripped from my very soul, taking with it every last one of my inhibitions, my what-ifs, my fears.
Pure, unadulterated pleasure crashed through me, lighting me up from the inside as Hawke slammed into me. He was right there with me, and he grabbed my shoulders and let out one last feral growl, his whole body shuddering with the force of his orgasm as he emptied himself completely, both of us riding the same delicious wave to the edge of eternity.
When it was finally over, Hawke collapsed against my chest, our bodies slick with sweat.
His hair tickled my nose, and I let it fall into my mouth as I held him close. I wanted to capture this moment, to remember it always.
“You okay?” he asked, breath raw and ragged against my chest.
I laughed. I wasmorethan okay. I was a damn phoenix rising out of the ashes of my old life, renewed and remade. Strong and beautiful. On fire.
Hawke had given me that gift.
He’d marked me. Changed me. Unlocked me. And in that moment, tangled up and trembling on the floor in a snowbound cabin at the top of the sky, I made a permanent place for him in my heart.
