“The Biker Daddy Bodyguards live on cake and coffee,” Ronan assured Kit.

“I thought boys got to play and fuck and have fun,” Kit muttered.

“They do that too,” Mo said, “but all our boys are businessmen. I have to remind Joseph he doesn’t need to be a boardroom shark all the time.”

Mo probably didn’t mean to make Kit feel inadequate, but he’d bounced from job to job, never finding his niche, knowing his brother would always support him. Quinn’s boy was a pop legend and a street artist. Craig’s boy owned nightclubs and other businesses. Mo’s boy was a freakin’ billionaire. And Kit? He couldn’t hold down a job for more than two months.

But he could learn to make a cake.

“Will you teach me to bake?” he asked Red, who gave him a huge smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Just the sight of his smile reassured Kit.

“I can do that,” Red said.

Mo made a snort which sounded strangely satisfied. “Tell me the ingredients. I’ll get Doug to bring them up.”

“What did you come here for?” Red asked.

“Ronan wants to check the panic room. We’ll be having a guest in the other cabin in the next few days. I can’t tell you who it is.”

Kit noticed how sober Mo was, his demeanor different when it was about security.

Red furrowed his brow. “Do you need us to move to another safe house? We could put him in danger.”

Mo gave a wry smile. “Our guest can take care of herself.”

“A woman?” Kit blurted out. “I thought you only took care of boys.”

He was relieved to see even Red looked confused.

“She’s a special case,” Mo said. “This is a request from Josh and Cal at Angel Securities. She’s had a rough time lately and needs a place to decompress. She’ll keep to herself and won’t bother you.”

Red grunted. Kit noted he didn’t seem too happy about having an unknown neighbor. He was going to question him when Mo and Ronan left, but Red said he needed to eat before his stomach crawled out of his belly, and Kit decided to leave it until after dinner.

Kit didn’t expect to eat much, his stomach churning with the stresses of the day. But the steak and eggs were perfect, the baked potato crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And of course, the salad was expertly chopped.

Before Kit knew it, he’d nearly finished the plate. “I’m full to bursting,” he confessed.

Red gave him a look that was almost one of pride. “You did well. Why don’t we clear up and watch a movie?”

Kit grumbled all the time he helped load the dishwasher and clean up, but it was more for the sake of it than actually meaning it.

“Go get into your pjs and choose a movie.”

“I get to choose?”

“Why not? It can be my choice tomorrow.” Then Red narrowed his eyes. “Except porn. I’m not interested in Plunging the Plumber.”

Kit pouted. ‘You could plunge me instead.”

Red swatted him on the butt. “When I think you’re ready.”

“I need a shower. I’m still sticky.”

“Then go. I need to check in Mo.”

They were going to be old and gray before Red got on board with the fucking instead of the patrolling, but Kit did as he was told. He ran into the bathroom to clean his teeth and start the shower. Eventually there’d be kissing. Lots of kissing. Kit was determined.
