“July sixteenth,” I revealed. That was only a few weeks before my birthday, but I’ll make it work.

“Ooh, a Cancer. Let us pray,” she laughed, and I joined in.

“So, how are you really feeling?”

“I’m okay. After seeing it in real time on the monitor, which made everything real. I’m still nervous about becoming somebody’s mama, but I think I can handle it,” I assured her. I may have been scared senseless, but I think I can do it.

“Aww, you’ll be fine. You have plenty of people around you who love you and that baby already and will be there to help. Whatever we can’t do or figure out, then your rich ass baby daddy can hire someone to do it for you… problem solved.” I simpered at her logic because she just knew Titan would always find a way to save the day.

“You’re right. I’m just nervous. None of this was supposed to happen, yet I’m glad it did,” I simpered.

“I’m happy for you, friend. I really am.”

We talked for a little longer while I got my things situated. By the time that I was done, I was tired and hungry. I had already taken some boneless, skinless chicken thighs out once I came back. It wouldn’t take long to fix them once I took my shower.

I stayed in the shower longer than I intended because I was reflecting on everything going on around me. By the time I was done and dressed, Titan was walking through the door while I was cooking dinner.

“Damn, I love coming home to this shit,” he greeted as he leaned over and kissed me.

“You’re funky.” I gagged.

“Damn, Tink,” he laughed. “That’s some fucked up shit to say.”

“It’s some real shit to say,” I countered. “Go wash, and then we can reconvene this conversation when you’re done.” I shooed him away from me, and he laughed as he made his way to the back so he could shower.

I knew he would be in the shower for close to an hour. He always did after practice, and since his injury it’s been longer. By the time he came back up front, he was shirtless, his hair was moisturized from the leave-in conditioner, and his basketball shorts were riding low, exposing the band of his Ralph Lauren boxer briefs.

“Looking at me like that is how you got knocked up in the first place.” He smirked as he made his way to me with his tape in hand for me to tape his shoulder. When he finally reached me, he pressed his body against mine before leaning down and kissing me.

“Correction… I’m knocked up because you’re careless,” I countered with a smirk.

Taking the tape from his hand, I gently taped his shoulder, then helped him into his compression sleeve. Once that was in place, he was right back in my space.

“How you feeling?” He had his hand on my stomach and caressed it as he kissed my neck.

“I feel fine. I was tired earlier, but I pushed through it so I could arrange my things in the closet. By the time I was done with that, I was hungry.”

“Don’t be in here doing too much, man. That shit ain’t going nowhere. If you’re tired… rest. You’re growing an entire person in your body, and I can only imagine the toll that takes on a woman. Don’t stretch yourself thin trying to prove a point,” he stated firmly.

“Yes, Daddy,” I purred to fuck with him. When I turned around, Titan was looking at me through squinted eyes.

“Aye, turn that off. We’ll come back after I show you how you made me a daddy in the first place,” he demanded.

Not being told twice, I did just what he asked and beat him to the bedroom for a lesson I had no problem learning.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Titan

I had a meeting with Kinetiq today, and by the time I walked into their headquarters, Sasha was already waiting outside the conference room. She glanced up from her phone when she saw me approaching and shook her head.

“Finally,” she huffed as I approached her.

“Watch out, Sash. You’re always acting like I’m late, when I’m in fact on time.” I smirked as I pulled her into a hug.

She rolled her eyes, but I ignored her, as I always do. We walked into the conference room and a few familiar faces were already seated around the table, including Mr. Reynolds nearthe head. I exchanged handshakes as I made my way around the room before taking a seat beside Sasha.

Every few months we’d sit down, review campaigns, discuss upcoming projects, go over community initiatives, and make sure everything stayed on track, so I didn’t expect this meeting to be any different.
