Finally, his love-struck eyes that have been googling over Sienna shift in my direction with the complete opposite sentiment. Daggers form in his light eyes, as he approaches my desk.
“Uh, Mr. Moretti, it’s me, Eric,” he introduces himself. I immediately see through this coy persona he is putting on in front of Sienna. He is acting with apprehension, but I know that look shooting from his eyes. It’s a visual checkmate, the look of scoping out the competition.
“Yes, I know. What can I do for you?” I ask, expecting him to brief me on whatever was so important that my meeting with Sienna be interrupted.
He ignores my question and, instead, walks over to where she sits in front of my desk. I look down and notice there is a leather bag in his hands. He kneels to the side of Sienna, and she looks up at me uncomfortably before turning her attention to him.
“Here, you left your bag in the car,” he says, handing her the black leather bag.
“Thanks, Eric.” Her face warms from the simple gesture, making me seethe inside.
Their seemingly simple interaction fuels my suspicions, making me believe that Lizzie may have been correct in thinking there was something between them.
I pucker my lips around my fading cigarette as I watch Eric whisper something in Sienna’s ear. A half-smile forms as she looks up to him as he rises.
“Sounds good, I’ll see you later,” she says to him.
Eric heads back to the door, not even attempting to acknowledge my presence as he slams the door shut.
What a fucking arrogant prick.
Sienna’s face flushes at Eric’s dramatic exit.
“Well, now that whatever that was is over, let’s get back to it, shall we?” I ask, trying to redirect her attention to where it belongs, away from Eric.
Confused at the attitude weaved within my words, she side-eyes me as she rests her purse on the empty chair next to her. She flips her hair back, so it falls behind her shoulders. I admire the stylish outfit she has on, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish I could see more of her skin. Even a sliver, something to feed the wicked thoughts brewing in my imagination.
“Sorry, I left my bag in the car that you had Eric drive me here in.”
“Ah, yes, how’s Eric working out as your driver?” I ask, grabbing another cigarette. I watch her eyes roll as I go to grab one.
“Fine. We have known each other a long time,” she says casually, clearly not picking up on the territorial war that has just been cast in my head.
“Interesting,” I mumble.
“What is?” She shakes her head.
I let the smoke billow out of my mouth as I take my time answering her. I like seeing her squirm a little bit. “You. I find you very interesting.” As the words spill out of my mouth, I take notice of her adjusting her legs once more. If I were a betting man, I’d say all the shifting in her seat has less to do with a nervous habit and more to tame whatever is brewing between those luscious legs of hers.
Tucking her hair behind her ear, she whispers, “Thank you.” I watch as she swallows hard. Clearly, I have gotten to her.Checkmate.
The smoke still flows from my half-finished butt. I place it down on the ashtray on my desk as I reach for the intercom button on my phone.
It rings twice before clicking, with Lizzie’s voice on the other end.
“Yes, Car,” she purrs in the speaker.
I take notice of Sienna’s eyes as she witnesses the cringeworthy lust in Lizzie’s voice.
“Please send up Natasha, so she can show Ms. Ricci around,” I command.
“You got it, Car,” Lizzie says once more in her bedroom voice.Oh boy.Lizzie is going to be a bigger problem than even I could have anticipated.
I look over to Sienna who is pursing her lips, more than likely at the sensual inflection in Lizzie’s voice. Although Ms. Ricci is here to work,or so she thinks,I want to reassure her that Lizzie is nothing to worry about.
Just as I wet my lips to speak to Sienna, the door to my office swings open, with Lizzie letting herself in. I notice the way she side-eyes Sienna the moment she barges through the door.
In no mood for her games, I slam my fist down on my desktop, startling both Lizzie and Sienna. “Next time, knock and wait like everyone else, Lizzie. Do not make me remind you of this again,” I snap.
