“I don’t know what’s wrong. And I need you not to intrude,” I request and Maya nods, she knows me well. I won’t budge.
“Fine, but you need to talk to us. What took you so long?” Sammy asks and I reply “Dominik,” Maya smirks and I throw a pillow at her.
“Not what you’re thinking!” I exclaim and Sammy arches an eyebrow.
“Then what?” Sammy questions.
“I have no idea,” I confess, being as honest as I can. I spend the rest of the morning watching Chicago Med with Sammy. While Maya finishes her book and gets the next one, she starts it right after. She’s hooked. I’m happy she’s not thinking about Damian. She had a minor crush on him that didn’t end well. I want her to move on with her life, but she’s been drinking her pain away most nights. She thought no one knew until well, this morning, but Sammy and I have an eye on her. We let her sneak out, especially because of her parents. Every responsibility fell on her when they died. She’s still not nearly doing good.
My phone vibrates and I look at the notification.
“@dominik-ricik has posted”
I open the notification and stare at the photo and my world succumbs. I keep looking at the picture while getting up and running to the guy’s apartment.
“Where’s Dominik?” I ask after I see an ambulance leave. “Was that him?” I ask the image still haunting me.
“Leave him alone, just today,” Josh advises and I see he’s got his arm bandaged.
“What happened?” I ask Josh, “Are you ok?” I try again, “Josh answer me, please,” I say but he just sighs nodding at Damian. “What the fuck happened, and whose blood was that?” I ask and Damian goes in his car after the ambulance, it is Dominik. “Josh?” I ask shuddering with my world falling apart around me.
“It isn’t Dominik, it’s Marcus who tried to stop Dominik from leaving. The rest of the blood? Ours. Not Dominik’s. Seems like the bastard is smarter than all of us put together, and didn’t even touch us. We hurt each other trying to stop him.”
“Did James-”
“James killed himself yesterday. Dominik went to attend the funeral. I don’t know if he’s coming back. He took some of his stuff,” Josh reveals and I take a deep breath. Dominik is fine. Or he’s going to be. I’m just scared he’ll want to be fine away from me.
Chapter 12
Dominik
Hell. Being without Love is hell. But the Mitf mafia was shaken by my brother’s death and I needed to keep things under control. I stayed there for three days. Three long-ass days, to show those assholes unlike my father and brother I’m here to stay, and am their superior. Or just superior, they should kiss the floor I walk on to be honest.
After I get everything sorted out, and have everyone in the palm of my hands I get to my car, in the parking space to see a distinctive small frame approach the front door, completely oblivious of my presence. I keep my car’s lights off, and near her from behind.
She turns around abruptly and looks at me, and for the first time she doesn’t smile. Damian kept an eye on her for me, no one else knew anything. I couldn’t tell anyone what I was doing, since I was planning war on Spencer. The guy still has some allies and I need him stripped of any kind of power. I need him to feel the worst he possibly can for hurting my Love.
“Hello, Cherry,” I say and she purses her lips, she’s probably weighing whether she should or shouldn’t be mad. I cock my head at her and lean against the door, she was about to knock on, above her.
“You’re not dead,” she ends up saying and to my surprise hugs me, her eyebrows joining together in pain. I hurt her, maybe Ishouldbe dead. I was never the best person at understanding feelings. But even I know I should’ve said something. However, I couldn’t, I would have a target on my back in Caltin. I wasn’t accepted as the remaining leader and I couldn’t just step in ruling everything as if nothing happened. Once again, my family chose the easy way out.
“I’m not dead,” I state and she stops hugging me she separates our bodies, to punch me in the arm.
“Damn you, Dominik!” she lets out her voice strained, I hold her close and she lets me, but she doesn’t hold me back. “Were you planning on coming back?” she asks me and I open my car's trunk, hold her hand and guide her to it. “You’re not closing me in there are you?”
“Tempting, but no!” I retort and she laughs, for the first time I feel the heavy weight on her chest lift.
“What am I looking at?” she questions confused. I myself wouldn’t be sure.
“Every meaningful thing in the house. I’m relocating to Cilinm officially. I will have to visit sporadically but never for long,” I tell her and she hugs me.
“You scared the hell out of me. I thought you were gone-”
“It takes more than that to kill me. I’m indestructible, ma Vie, no one will ever kill me, including myself,” I clean a tear that falls from her crystal blue eyes. Looking even lighter with the reddening around them.
“You could’ve told me,” she says and I look around searching for her car. “Kai drove me here, he’d be back in thirty minutes.”
“We still have fifteen minutes, what do you want to do?” I ask her, my interior screaming and aching to touch her.
