With a growl, I began pounding into her, imprinting on her heart and soul. The way she’d already staked a claim on mine ten years ago.

“I’m yours, Violet.” My voice came out guttural as I watched her ride me, her long hair a mess and her lips swollen. I thrust into her, her arousal dripping onto my thighs. “I’ve been yours from the very first word you said to me.”

Her lips found mine as I fucked her harder, our grunts and moans mixing. She was getting closer, and the sight was taking me right along to my own release.

“Oh… Oh… my God,” she moaned, her eyes fluttering shut and her muscles contracting around my cock like a vise. “God…”

“Lykos,” I growled. “Not God.”

“Lykos…” she panted, her body shuddering. “I’m coming.”

And she took me right along with her.

“Ahhh, fuck,” I groaned against her lips, my dick twitching with my release.

Her body shuddered against mine and for several moments we remained like that, chest against chest. Heartbeat against heartbeat.

“Violet,” I whispered, and she looked at me with those eyes that used to be full of sadness, but less so now. There was a satisfied smile on her lips. “Stay with me… with us. Forever.”

She sighed, bringing her forehead to rest against mine.

“I want that too,” she said gently. “There are logistics to figure out though, because I don’t want to give up my job.”

“We’ll figure it all out. Just stay here with us.”

“Forever,” she murmured.

“Forever,” I echoed.

I finally had the love of the woman I wanted, and I would hold on to it with all my might.

FORTY-TWO

VIOLET

Isat at the kitchen table with my coffee curled between both hands and my phone sitting silent next to it while I stared at the clear blue skies out the window.

Lykos was at work. I’d handled a few administrative items for my job, but those took less than an hour. I was a therapist, and my whole job was pretty much talking to people which at this moment, I wasn’t really doing.

Dimitros and Aria had insisted on going to school, if even for half a day, which left me to experience the all too quiet penthouse.

I didn’t think a long-term sabbatical would work for me. In fact, I might go insane because my mind kept drifting and evaluating everything.

And at this moment, I was thinking about my mom.

God, it had been ten years. I shut my mind and emotions whenever I thought of my parents, but for some reason today it didn’t work. At least not when it came to my mom. Maybe it had something to do with the fact I finally had my own daughter inmy life and it made me reflect on my own relationship with my mother.

I squeezed my eyes shut.

God, sometimes I hated the fact that I cared so much.

“Violet?”

I looked up to find Aria standing at the doorway, wearing her school uniform, her hair in a high ponytail and her eyes clear as the skies outside.

“Aren’t you supposed to be in school?”

She smiled sheepishly and walked toward me. “I was and gave them three hours. Papa said it’s okay to come home early.”
