"You're one of those green flags," I tell him.

"Green flags?" He hands me one of the menus. Holy crap, it’s ginormous.

"Yeah, guys have green flags and red ones. You're all green. I get to pass go and collect my two hundred dollars." His brows rise. "It's from Monopoly. You know, the board game?”

"Never played." He flips through a few pages of the menu.

"You're going to keep it that way. That game comes with scandal."

"Scandal?" A small laugh leaves him. "That's the one with the iron and thimble?"

"That's the one. People will even fight over which one they'll be."

"You can be them all."

"It doesn't work that way." I laugh.

"Then I'll change the rules."

"Bet you'd let me have Boardwalk and Park Place."

"If that is what you wanted."

"See?" I let out a happy sigh. "Green flag."

"Morning," the server says, coming over to our table. "What can I get you started with?"

"Milkshake, two straws," Killian tells her, making her smirk.

"All right, lovebirds. What flavor are we doing?" Killian looks to me to answer.

“Strawberry. Extra thick and extra whipped cream,” I tell her.

“Coming right up. Can I get you started with any appetizers? Or you need some more time?” she asks.

Now that I have the menu in my hands, I’m no longer sure of my order. Now I want to look through it before settling.

“Just the shake for now. Thanks.”

“Sounds good.” She heads off toward the counter where there are skinny chairs that people can sit on and eat at if they want.

“So many choices,” I say out loud, more to myself than anything. I’m honestly overwhelmed by the number of pages and categories this menu has. “Do you want cheese sticks, potstickers, or potato skins?” I weigh my options.

“Why don’t we try one of each?” Killian suggests. I swear this man is not real.

“There’s like fifteen of them,” I say, thinking that will deter him. He simply shrugs his shoulders as though it’s not a big deal. “I don’t want to waste food. Let's get the sampler.”

We order that and some food when the waitress comes back to our table with the shake.

"It's good," Killian says after taking a sip. I pull out my phone and snap a picture with the milkshake and Killian. That's when I see a handful of missed texts but none from Lily.

"Yikes," I mutter. Roland's messages aren’t too awful. Only stating the obvious, that he worries over me, but he will take care of Minnie while I'm gone and asks me to check in with him.

"What's wrong?" Killian's brows furrow together, a determined expression taking over. He's ready to take on whatever my "yikes" was about.

"I got a few texts from Ro, but they're not bad. He wants me to check in so he knows I'm safe."

"That is understandable, but now you have me." For how long? That's the scary question and one I'm not asking. I'm playing it cool, and we only met yesterday!
