“Fuck, I never thought I’d see that day,” Crash murmurs, seeing what I’m seeing, and I hum in agreement.
I want to speak more about Belle, because a part of me thinks maybe he’s only with her now because they’ve been together for so long, he feels obligated. I know we’re not at that stage for me to question him and when we are, I won’t hold any judgement.
There’s a lot I’m beginning to realize that I don’t know about their relationship, I’m only hearing her side of things which as I now see, are not all true.
“I’m sorry,” I say, and I feel his eyes on me, but I don’t look his way. I keep my eye on my child, now hugging my mom. “When everything happened, I didn’t allow myself to believe my feelings for Miles, so when you stood by him with the marriage, when you tapped our phones, I struggled with the betrayal instead of seeing that Miles wanted me.”
“I didn’t tap her phone, Clark,” Crash instantly says, and I look at him with a frown. He sighs, “Belle told me about you running away, it’s how I knew. She wanted me to go against Trick and allow you to leave, she wanted me to turn traitor against the club. It’s why I didn’t speak to her for a fucking month. I was pissed at her because she knows what the club means to me and when she went away for the year, I was relieved because I was so pissed at her.”
“Well, damn,” I whisper, and he huffs.
“You don’t need to apologize, Clark, as far as I’m concerned, you were hurting, and you were allowed to hurt. It’s only these past four weeks that you’ve allowed yourself to realize the love you and Trick hold for each other,” he says softly, and I furrow my brows.
“Has it only been four weeks? It feels longer,” I murmur, and he laughs softly as he wraps his arm around my shoulders and I lean into him, whispering, “I missed you, big brother,” and I feel him kiss my head.
“I missed you, too, little sister,” he replies just as a throat clears before us, and I lock eyes with my mother's sad hazel ones.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt. I just wanted to say I’m so, so sorry. I have no words to explain my actions. I was pushing you to do things because I felt you growing up too quickly. Then that night happened and I felt like I lost my daughter and latched onto someone else’s who wanted me. Granted, not for the right reasons but I didn’t care and I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I hope one day you’ll forgive me and allow me into that precious little girl’s life because she, my darling daughter, is absolutely amazing.”
I swallow hard as she walks away, and Crash mutters, “Fucking hell, didn’t see that one coming either.”
“Nope,” I reply.
We watch as she goes back to Willow and picks her up, making my dad scowl. He follows as she walks over to the BBQ, where my husband is now talking with his dad.
“I can’t live without Miles,” I admit, and Crash sighs, “And this is why I don’t feel guilty about not backing you with the marriage, I just feel bad you didn’t get your big white wedding,” and I smile slightly because well I guess I can now.
“What do I do now?” I ask Crash as I lock eyes with my husband, who smiles widely at me.
“You give the brothers family days to start off with, maybe come to the club when we have church and let them all show you that you can trust them. That you can trust me and then let me have niece time because Mom is right, the girl is amazing, you’ve done a good job.”
I smile at that just as Miles says something to his dad, who looks my way, then nods. Crash kisses my head and mutters, “I missed you, sis,” before he gets up, and my husband takes his place, instantly wrapping his arm around my waist, and I look up at him, our eyes connecting.
“You ready to fight for us, buttercup, and allow the brothers to show you that they can be trusted?” Miles asks, and I smile softly.
They have done a lot today to show me they have my back. No club bunny is in sight, and Nova isn’t here. They’ve ensured they've cooked the foods Willow likes and showed enthusiasm when she gave them their personal show.
They’re trying, and I guess I can try in return.
“Yes,” I admit without hesitation, and Miles grins before he presses his lips against mine. I melt into him just as cheers echo around us, before I feel little arms wrap around our legs.
Miles breaks the kiss and lifts Willow so she’s on his knee, then he kisses me again. I smile into it, suddenly extremely happy that this man forced a marriage on me.
Chapter 21
Clark
“I cannot believe I’ve just allowed you to take me to work,” I say with a chuckle as I climb off my husband’s Harley, using his broad shoulders as a crutch. He grins wide, looking pretty happy with himself as he wraps his arm around my waist to stop me from pulling away and my heart flutters as I lean into him, I can’t help it.
The man is consuming me, and I seem to be giving in quite easily.
Not only did he convince me to allow my parents, of all people, to watch Willow at our home after she begged continuously while he dropped me off at work. He also managed to get shower sex while our daughter was playing downstairs.
And the award for the best parents goes to…
“I’m trying to get all the fucking time I can with you, buttercup. You’re on your first night shift tonight following Amber, and I won’t get to see you in the morning. By the time you get home, I would already have taken Willow to school before going on the run,” he says, and I lean further onto him, trying to help settle him.
Drew gave birth last night to a happy, healthy little boy named Conner Joel – CJ for shirt with Tricks help and the boy is absolutely beautiful.
