“He’s right, man.” Ace mutters next to me. As the uniformed officer on top of me tightens the cuffs before the attempt to lift me up off of the ground.
When we pull up to the station, I see the unmarked car pull in behind me. Being pulled out of the backseat and escorted into the precinct.
Chik is already waiting for me when we pull in. I’m not sure why, it has nothing to do with club shit, so I’m not sure why Khan would send him out.
“What are the charges?” Chik asks the officers as they bring me in.
“You’ll have to wait for him to be processed.” Butler tells him, causing Chik to laugh.
“Well, I think I can assume what happened.” Butler cuts his eyes to him. “Now, is that necessary? Because it’s my understanding that there has been documented proof of this man harassing my clients.” He looks to the arresting officer. I can feel him hesitate behind me before.
“Nice try,” Butler pushes me forward. Just nodding to Chik as he shakes his head.
I’m convinced that after the multiple hours that I am sitting around waiting for them to process me. I know that they’re purposely taking their time. It’s probably the fed who’s pulling all the strings. I’m sitting in the interrogation room as the door finally opens.
“Jeez,” Chik mumbles as he walks into the room and sits down next to me. “You’ve pissed off many people here, kid.”
“I know.” I don’t even look over at him as I say it. “They were going to take one of us. He had it in his mind. Wanted Ash.”
“And you couldn’t let him do that with Caroline...”
“Yeah,” he nods again.
The door opens again as Lee walks in and I glare at him. He came in and lied to all of us.
“Well, that was dumb of you.” He looks at me. “Now you’re locked up in here. For a while. Shame you’re going to miss the birth.”
“Why would I be worried about that?” I look at him curiously. He has me confused with Ash. “I’m not Ash.” I can’t help but laugh when I look back up to him, but he should know that. He spent little time with us, but he still knew us. “Ash is the one with the kids on the way.” He looks back up at me before he glances back at the folder on the table and he closes it.
“Right.” He mumbles.
I’m pushed into the prison cell as it clinks shut behind me.
I was deemed a flight risk.
Also, the county jail has an overcrowding issue.
Go fucking figure.
“Hey man, Gary.” someone nods in my direction as I turn around to find an ogre of a man standing in front of me. He makes me seem short. This fucking leg they gave me doesn’t make standing up straight any easier.
Yup, made me store the leg that I’ve been using for years, the one that is actually somewhat comfortable and I have to use this shit one. It’s plastic and probably older than I am.
I grumble out a couple of words to my bunkmate before I walk over and slunk onto the bed.
“Great,” he mumbles. “Had to get stuck with a bitchy kid.”
A bell rings and all the doors open. “Chow.” He nods to me as I follow him out of the cell and down the rows of them until we make our way into a cafeteria.
As we walk, I can hear some jokes about fresh meat. “Don’t let them see you listening.”
“I won’t.”
“Well, well,” I hear from behind me as I turn with Gary. Looking up to some men who, even if we’re all in the same jumpsuit, it’s still very apparent how racist these men are. “I see you’ve found yourself a new friend, G.”
“What do you want, Leroy?” I can’t help but laugh as both men look at me.
“Oh shit, I thought that was a joke.” I laugh again.
