“Na—nothing.” I whisper as I shake my head and get up off the bed, walking back into the bathroom.

“Sadie…” He calls after me as I try and shut the bathroom door, but he pushes it open, looking down at me. “What’s going on?”

“It’s nothing.” I shake my head but see as he cuts his eyes at me. “You’re not going to let this go until I tell you, are you?” His head shakes, methodically. “Fine, but you’re not going to like it.” I sigh as I look down and he steps into me, bringing me close to his body. “That was the first time, in a long time, that my head wasn’t somewhere else.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, I’ve slept with a few people over the years… and every one of them I’ve never been with them. It’s always beenhim… at least in my head.” Slowly, I look up at him and a smirk starts to spread on both of our faces. “Until you…”

“Is that a good thing of a bad thing?” He asks me and I can see it in his eyes he’s not asking to be an asshole, but generally trying to find out how I feel about it.

“Both?” It comes out as a question. His eyes fall frommine, and I feel bad as I start to backtrack and figure out how to explain it to him to make it make sense. “Ro,” he looks back up at me, “I’m glad I was in the moment just now, with you…” I trail and he nods his head.

“But you’re not ready to move on.” He seems deflated as he says it.

“No, it’s not really that. A part of me feels bad. Like if I move on, I’ll be forgetting him.” Although he’s not even aware of just how unlikely that it. “Which is completely absurd because he made me promise.”

“Promise what?”

“That I’d continue to live my life.” I laugh again rolling my eyes. “But that was weeks after he broke up with me.”

“Why’d he break up with you?” He looks down at me, his eyes somewhere between a smirk and sadness.

“He found some photos.” He tilts his head and I grimace. “They may have been of me and Ella.” His face matches mine and then we both laugh out.

“Oh, the webs we weave.” He laughs causing me to look up at him this time, slightly confused. “I’m assuming based on everything that she doesn’t know?” He asks me. I don’t have to ask him who because I already know who he’s asking and what she knows.

“No.” I whisper while shaking my head and he laughs again.

“Oh, that’s going to blow up in your face.” We’re both laughing although the situation is not going to be anywhere near funny.

“You have no idea…” I trail as he leans into me again and kissing me.

“I know what I’m going to do.”

“What’s that?”

“I’m going to take you back to the bed and fuck you again.” His hands trail down my body, cupping my ass, and he lifts me off of the ground. I squeal out and wrap my legs around him as he carries me back into the bedroom.

Chapter Fourteen

RO

My muscles scream, waking me up, as I look over and see the opposite side of the bed is empty. “The hell…” I trail as I look around the room, the closed bathroom door catches my eye. I know it was left open last night after I carried her back into the bedroom.

I wait for a few moments before I stand up, , grabbing my sweatpants, pulling them up, and walking towards the door

“Sadie.” I call out as I knock on the door, but no answer meets me. Slowly, I push the door.

The bare feet laying sideways on the floor is the first thing I see and as I open the door wider, I see her completely laying on the floor.

“Shit.” I gasp before I rush over to her. “Sadie.” I call out as I start to lift her up. Shifting her limp body, reaching my hand out, and feeling for a pulse. Relief feeling me when I find one. “Come on, Nightmare. Wake up.” I whisper to her as I shake her. The groan makes me feel a bit better. “What happened?” I ask her, not really expecting an answer. Her whole body is sweating, and she whimpers as I touch her. “Come on. Let me put you back to bed.” She weakly wraps her arms around my neck as I pick her up off of the bathroom floor.

“Fuck.” I mumble. I walk her back into the bedroom. Laying her onto the bed, and wrapping her up in the covers. Walking back into the bathroom and flushing as it looks like she passed out immediately after getting sick.

“Nightmare, if you have to get sick again, I put a trash can, right next to the bed, for now.” I tell her. She just whimpers in a response and rolls over. I see her eyes crack open, looking up at me.

“Thank you.” She whispers back to me. I smile, leaning over, and placing a kiss on her forehead.
