I suck in a breath quickly, as I look back at her taking a larger gulp from my beer before I gasp out. “Whatever do you mean? What would my type be?”

“Oh, I don’t know, biker, significant age difference.”

“What?” My voice actually squeaks as I say it.

“Come on. Ro…” The smirk on her face grows. “And Oz.”

I choke on the beer I swig this time as I look at her, wide-eyed. “How’d you know?”

“There were rumors around town about him with someone much younger.” She shrugs again. “I never said anything to your father, but when he died, I knew it, the way that you were acting…” she laughs again. “Plus, he looks a lot like him.”

“Yeah.”

“I need to know… this is so weird for me to ask you, but how was it?”

“How was what?” I play dumb because I feel uncomfortable answering her question.

“You know what I’m asking.” She laughs again, starting at me.

“The sex?” I ask as she nods her head. “Well, it was the first real relationship I had.”

“Was he good to you?”

“Yes.” I smile as I nod my head.

“And Ro?”

“The best…” I whisper. “I almost feel bad to say that, but Oz wanted me to be happy.”

“And the sex?” She whispers, almost ashamed of what it is she’s asking.

“Mom!” I laugh again as she nods.

“What? Look I haven’t gotten laid in a while. “

“Mom…” I cringe as I look away quickly, but when I look at her, I shake my head, laughing. Instead of answering I just let the grin spread on my face.

“Good. Don’t settle for mediocre sex. I’m serious.”

“Trust me, I’m not.” I pick at the label on the beer bottle. I hear the door creak open and Ro peeks around the corner into the kitchen.

“Speak of the devil.” My mother smiles at him.

“I see you took my advice.”

“I wanted to talk to you guys about a schedule. We should work something out so with time he can come stay with you full time.”

Chapter Twenty-Six

SADIE

I situate myself in the seat as we drive towards the Midnight Syn’s clubhouse once again. Ro’s holding my hand as he turns the car down the gravel trail towards the grounds. Pulling up to the gate, and he punches in the code.

The gate swings up as I worry my lip, glancing in the backseat as Linc sits looking out the window. He grins at me when he sees me.

It’s weird how everything has seemed to fall into place even when Linc’s with us. It’s been weeks since my mother came to see me and Linc has been coming over regularly since. I’m not sure how I was ever able to stay away from him, because every time I look at him my heart just feels full.

“Calm down, it’s going to be okay.” Ro tells me and I glance over at him again. I feel the shaky breath come out as he squeezes my hand. “You ready, little man.” Ro turns saying to Linc who laughs as he gets out of the car and opens the back seat. “We’re going to go meet your cousins.” Ro’s excited as he lifts Linc up and holding him at his side. ThenI watch as the men in my life start to walkover to my door and open it for me. “Come on, Momma.” I look up at him and he smirks again, kneeling down, so that he’s looking at me, eye-level. “Sadie, it’s now or never.”
