“He was a dick?” She asks, reaching out and stopping me by pressing on my side.

Hissing, I wince. She shoots me a questioning look.

“Drew...” It’s a warning. “What happened?”

Shaking my head as we enter the building. Her grip on my arm stings as she pulls me across the hallway to the single-stall bathroom, pushes me inside, and locks the door behind us.

“Show me…” she demands.

“It’s nothing.”

“Goddammit, Drew. Show me now, or I will call your brother.”

“Don’t call him.” Shaking my head, I stop her as she pulls out her phone. “Don’t.” My eyes widen. “I’ll show you, but you have to promise not to say anything.”

She just glares at me again.

“It’s handled, but Z cannot know.”

She gives me a questioning look again before nodding her head. “Fine.”

I raise my shirt, showing her my ribcage as she gasps out.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” She shouts.

“Shut up.” I snap, grabbing at her hands that have alreadypulled her phone back out. “You promised.”

“How bad is it?” She asks, shaking her head. “Take your shirt off.”

“Low, it’s fine.”

“It’s not fine.” She fumes as she paces the bathroom floor. “I’m gonna fucking kill him.”

“I’m pretty sure you’re too late for that.” I mumble under my breath.

“What?” she wavers. “You killed him.”

“No.”

“If you didn’t kill him and your brother can’t know.” She gasps as she looks at me again. “You went back, didn’t you?”

“I woke up there this morning. He said he found me on his porch, drugged. After I jumped out of the car and ran.”

“The cop killed him?” She smirks to herself.

“I don’t actually know that’s what happened. He just said I didn’t have to worry about him ever again.” Pausing, trying to save Eli from her knowing what he may have done. “He may have just threatened him, but his tone… didn’t seem like he did.”

“That’s a shame if he didn’t.” She pauses. “I hope he did.”

“Why?”

“He drugged you and did this.” She shakes her head. “Imagine what he would have done if you were a sane person.” She smirks for a moment and shakes her head.

“Apparently he called Z for help after the fact.”

She looks at me, shocked, and I nod my head.

“Which is why Z cannot find out. He finds out I was drugged last night, and he’ll put the pieces together.”
