The creaking wakes me. As I look over, the glow from the TV lights up the room just enough as he pulls his shirt up over his head, exposing his abs. Seeing him here for the first time, undressing in my room with plans to crawl into my bed, it should feel strange. Feel like the odd sensation of a new relationship. But something about it just feels comfortable, and that should scare me.
“You’re late.” I whisper out, a smile forming on my face as I give him a hard time about it. He sent me a quick text telling me he had to run and do something, that he was still coming, just later than expected.
“Sorry, I had to go see your brother.” He says as he slides into the bed next to me, pulling me closer.
“What?” I gasp, feeling the excitement growing inside. “And he let you live?”
“I didn’t tell him that.” He laughs, shaking his head until he looks over at me, telling me I’m doing a terrible job at concealing my disappointment. His expression changes as he leans into me, lowering his voice with his next words. “We’ll tell him, eventually. This is new. I don’t want to put anymore pressure than what we already have.”
He’s right. I know he is, but it’s still disappointing. “Okay.” Nodding my head, but glancing over at the TV to get out of his stare.
“I’m serious. Although I’m pretty sure I almost blurted it outwhile I was there.”
“What? Like I’m boning your sister?” I can’t help but laugh at myself.
“I mean, I would have said it better than that. But while I’m trying to have a serious conversation with him, in my head, all I can see is you dripping wet with my cum all over your face.”
Laughing, I roll over, looking at him again.
“Tate’s engaged.” He looks down at me, both of us knowing what that means and the trouble it’s going to cause for Z. “To one of the detectives.”
“Oh, shit.” Shaking my head. “That’s not gonna end well.”
“Nope, and Z needs my help.”
“Are you going to?”
“How could I say no?”
“Just, you know, Z, maybe you should have taken your head out of your ass before now.”
“Yeah, that would have gone over really well.”
I can’t help but laugh again. “Well, two of the three people who could ever get away with telling him that are in this room.”
“I dunno about that.”
“Sure,” I roll my eyes.
“Or at least until he finds out we’re in the room together.” He laughs this time.
“Nah, more like until he figures out you’ve been inside me.”
“Drew Anderson, as eloquent as ever.”
It makes me laugh before he grips the back of my neck, pulling me down to his face and kissing me.
“You have a tendency to keep me waiting, you know.” I laugh out as he rolls onto his back, pulling me on top of him.
“I’m sorry.” He whispers before pulling my face closer to his. Moving away from me for a moment, he furrows his brows as he places his hands on my hips, stilling me. “I’ll make it up to you.” He grins before rolling us, hovering over me. Parting my thighs to fit his body. “You’re gonna be the death of me…”
“So you keep telling me.” I try not to laugh.
His hand comes up, trailing my thigh until it meets my apex. His eyes coming up and meeting mine. “Do you always sleep naked?” A smirk pulling on his lips.
“No.”
