Eva gasped before finally smiling. She elbowed me lightly. "You're such an asshole sometimes." She looked at me through the mirror.

"I know. I'm sorry, love." Kissing her temple I straightened. "What time are our reservations?"

"Seven. And we can't be late because they only have a five-minute grace period."

I glanced at the time on my phone. "Alright. Let me go shower and get ready." Dropping another kiss on top of her head, I headed to the bathroom. Once I was showered with a towel slung around my waist, Eva was stepping into her dress.

"Come zip me up, baby." She turned her back to face me.

Padding over, I carefully zipped the little black dress, kissing her shoulder when I was done. "You look beautiful, baby."

"Thank you," she turned to face me with a smile, placing her hands on my chest. "I laid out your clothes."

Turning my head I saw the black slacks and dress shirt placed neatly on the bed. "Thank you," I smirked.

"Hurry." She patted my chest and walked out.

I dressed quickly, sprayed on cologne, brushed my waves and beard and then we were off. Tapping the address in the GPS I read the name out loud. "Simmer & Soul," I pulled off. "You been there?"

"Not yet, but Shelby and Devon have raved about it. The owner is a frat brother of his."

"Hmm." I nodded, placing my hand on her thigh. "Well I got my appetite so let's have a good night."

We got there at the same time as Shelby and Devon. The ladies hugged warmly and me and Devon shook hands.

Devon clapped my back with a smile. "Wait till you taste this food man…you're gonna fall in love."

"This shit better be good, the way y'all acting," I smirked.

"Trust me, my guy. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Hopefully if he's not too busy, I can introduce you to my frat brother."

"Sounds good." I nodded as we followed our wives inside.

As soon as we stepped in, I was impressed. The vibe was warm. Lighting good but not all dark and shit like some restaurants. Slow jazz played in the background blending with the sounds of laughter and silverware. We were seated right away, a booth off to the side. Once we put in our drink orders, I scanned over the menu while the ladies chatted.

Everything sounded good as fuck and my stomach was already growling. I flipped to the last couple of pages to look at the dessert menu. That's when I saw her fucking name—right there.

The first option—

The Gianna.

My throat tightened as I blinked rapidly.

What the fuck?

Was the universe trying to torture me?

Why the hell was there a dessert namedThe Gianna?

"Babe—?" Eva nudged me softly.

Looking up, I saw the server had returned with our drinks. I accepted my Old-Fashioned with a gruff 'thank you', still thrown off.

Eva's brows furrowed. "Are you okay?"

I nodded quickly taking a drink. "Just a long day."

We ordered our food but just like that, my mood had shifted. Gianna once again was taking space in my mind. I managed to stay present. Bullshit conversation with Devon about sports while the ladies laughed loudly and happily. Eva looked relaxed. And she was smiling, so with that; I forced myself to enjoy this moment.
