“I wish I didn’t.”
Yes, they definitely were.
“Yeah, one with thicker walls and fewer guest rooms,” I grumbled.
“Hey.” A crease formed between Giana’s brows as she glared up at me. “That’s my best friend. Wherever I go, there’ll always be room for her.”
I bent to kiss her forehead, and it immediately smoothed out. “Yeah, room for Sophia, not for the other two.”
“I heard that,” Zane said from the other side of the door.
“My point exactly. You shouldn’t be close enough to my room to hear us.”
“Yeah, fuck off, Zane,” Sophia sang, and the doorknob jiggled.
No, please no.
Sophia bounded into the room and slammed the door in Zane’s disgruntled face, locking it behind her.
“I should’ve remembered to do that,” Kellan said under his breath.
“What are we doing today?” Sophia beamed, way too fucking chipper for the morning. Well, I guess it was afternoon now.
“We’regoing to watch a movie.”
Sophia didn’t notice my emphasis, though, and plopped down on the bed and flopped back onto Giana, making her lean back onto Spade instead.
I glowered at the smug asshole beside me, who was all smiles now that he had our girl fully in his lap.
“Oh cool, what are we watching?” Sophia asked.
At the same time I said, “Watch her leg.”
“Sorry.” Sophia grimaced. “How’s it doing today?”
“Sore. But it’s better than it was a few days ago.” Giana winced, moving her leg out a bit further, but she didn’t kick her friend out. No, she hugged her.
Dammit, if it wasn’t bad enough that these pricks came and ruined our alone time, it was even worse now.
Kellan rubbed a hand over her shoulder in a soothing motion, but she jerked at the touch.
“What the fuck?” I growled, ready to launch myself at Kellan if he hurt her.
“My shoulder’s just a little bruised,” Giana said.
“Who the fuck did that to you?” I glowered at Spade and Kellan; they were both supposed to have her back last night. I cupped her face with both hands, uncaring of the pain that seared through me as I shifted the shoulder with the bullet wound. “Please tell me they’re dead; otherwise I’m going out to—”
“I did it to myself,” she huffed, pursing her lips. I didn’t miss the slight quiver to them, though, like she was fighting off a smile. “I dodged out of the way of a shot and hit the pavement hard. And before you march out of here like my hero, yes, he’s already dead.”
“Good girl.” I caressed her cheek with my thumb, loving the blush that spread across it. “You tell me if you’re hurt so I can take care of you next time.”
“Yes, sir,” she purred, her words making my cock twitch.
“Eww, stop that,” Sophia groaned, snapping us both out of the moment.
I reluctantly released my girl, my jaw ticking as I held back the flood of curses that begged to roll off my tongue. I was reaching my limit. Not only did Giana get hurt while I wasn’t there toprotect her, I couldn’t even get a damn minute alone with her. I had to have her soon. I had to have her splayed across my lap, my hand reddening her ass cheek for ever putting what was mine in danger.
“So I think we need a comedy.” Giana cleared her throat. “We have enough action in real life.”
