Lois and Hannah both make vomit noises in protest. “You guys are so gross! Get a room.” Lois laughs.
“Yeah, you two,” Hannah chimes in. “Some of us don’t want to see how in love you are.” She smirks as I pull away. Sam sits down next to me.
“So who is going to be next at what?” he asks again.
“Hannah had her scan today, so we were talking about babies.” I smile.
“Oh God, yeah, how did it go? Another boy?” He chuckles.
“Actually…” I simper. “I was right, it’s a girl.” I stick my tongue out.
“You told her before me? Again!” He sighs. “And I now owe her a fiver. This is a bad Christmas Eve.” He laughs.
We all laugh with him. “I can’t help it that they like me more.” I bite my lip.
I can see his eyes darken but he plays it cool.
Lois and Hannah nod, still laughing at his tantrum.
“And we were saying…” Lois has her troublemaker twinkle in her eyes. “That maybe it’ll be you two next.” She stifles her smirk.
Sam stares at her. “Oh, were you, Lois?” He turns to look at me. “And what do you think about this, Harri?”
I laugh. “I didn’t say anything! And anyway, you’ve got to put a ring on it before I start pushing out your big-headed babies,” I tease.
He nods. “God, you don’t want much, do you? Take the girl out of London, but can’t take London out of the—”
I smack his arm before he can finish.
He smiles, holding his hands up. “I’m joking, I’m joking.” He kisses my knuckles on the hand I just hit him with. His lips makemy body tingle.
Hannah picks up on the moment. “You guys are so in love.” She smiles dreamily. “As much as it is completely gross, I kind of love it.”
“We are.” I smile back.
Lola and Alfie both run over to the table. “How long until Father Christmas gets here?” they whine together, completely high on sugar and excitement.
“He comes when you’re asleep.” Sam ruffles Lola’s hair. “So when you get home it’s bedtime straight away!”
They both laugh excitedly and run back to Gloria for another mince pie. Hannah and Lois follow to make sure they don’t completely overload on sugared pastries before bed.
The crowd and music is loud but when it’s just me and Sam, it’s like the world around us falls to a silence.
He turns to me, his dimples doing their thing that drives me crazy. “You staying at mine tonight?” he asks me, his eyes with a hint of something naughty behind them.
“Of course, I’ve already told Father Christmas that I’ll be at yours tonight.” My eyes return the hint.
He catches on, leaning a little closer to me. “Well, I hope that you have been a very good girl, Harri Chattox.”
I close the distance over the table. “We both know we’ve been rather naughty recently.” My voice is quiet and seductive.
His cheeks redden slightly at the memories of the last few weeks and how keeping our hands off each other has been a challenge.
My body feeds off his response. It’s like when he feels something the feeling creeps into my body so we can experience it at the same time. Granny says it could be the fact we’re twin flames or just that we’re utterly in love. I think it’s both.
Sam looks around the room and then back at me. “We have about twenty minutes until Lola crashes out from the sugar andprobably, at the same time, your granny will do the same from the port. Think we will be missed if we pop back to mine?”
I bite my lip trying to slow my heartbeat and the heat that has gone straight to my thighs. “I think everyone is too drunk to even notice if the big man himself flew in with his reindeer.”
