He kisses along my neck, sucking at the spot on my collarbone. “It’s always perfect. Your body was destined to be mine.”

I still, taking in his words. They sound an awful lot like more feelings than either of us bargained for. Hope flutters for just a minute before I remind myself we both agreed to strictly fun, and it’s on me that I’m catching feelings.

Kissing his cheek, I push him away gently so I can step out of his embrace. “Okay. You go, I’ll cook.”

Pulling my face into his hands, he kisses me. “Be careful, Goddess. I could get used to this.”

Like an idiot, I smile at his words, watching him saunter up the stairs to his shower.

Watch it, Sophia. He doesn’t know who you are, and when he does… he’ll run.

Like a douse of cold water on my feelings and libido, I pull on my clothes and start to make his breakfast.

It doesn’t matter that it’s almost dinner time for the rest of the world, he just woke up, so eggs it is. I pull veggies from the fridge and chop a few to add to his omelette with some diced ham and cheddar.

Pouring it into the pan, I wait for it to set a little before flipping.

“How do you make eggs smell so good?” he asks.

“I’ve been cooking for myself and my brother since I was eight.” Plating up his omelette, I bring it to the table so I can sit with him while he eats.

“You’re not eating?”

“Nope. I had lunch not too long ago. I didn’t sleep all morning and afternoon like you.” I settle into my seat with my water.

“So, you have a brother?” he asks while digging his fork into the food.

Shit. I’m not supposed to share personal info.

“Yeah. I do. I don’t get to talk to him a lot though. Haven’t heard from him in a while.” At least that part is true.

“I’m sorry. I can’t imagine not being close to my siblings. They annoy the shit out of me, but I love ‘em.”

“Your whole family seems amazing. Your mom told me the story of how she and your dad met. So romantic.”

“Oh, gosh. She loves telling that story. How long did it take her to convince you to hear it?” He’s picking at her, but his love for her is evident in how he talks about her.

“I asked her, thank you very much. And she happily told me.” I giggle at the memory. “And she had a few margaritas, so she was very forthcoming about how handsome your dad was, and that you look just like him.”

“Of course she did. She loves to say that to whoever any of her boys are dating. It doesn’t matter which brother she’s talking about.” He shakes his head.

“Well, then Aubrey said he’s a silver fox, and I agree. So I think I’m with your mom.”

He scrunches his nose. “You could have just left it at me being handsome. We didn’t need to go and bring in your attraction to my father. Or Aubrey’s for that matter.”

Clearing his plate from the table, he drops it into a sink full of dishes.

“Not my fault you come from good genes. At least you know you’ll still have it when you’re older.” I try to hide my smile at his reaction to me calling his dad attractive.

“Yup. Okay. On that note, I’m going to work.” He pulls me into him one-handed, kissing my lips.

“Text me later so I know you’re safe out there, okay?”

“Absolutely. Can you just lock up when you leave here?” He grabs his small cooler and utility belt.

“Yup. I can do that.” Reaching out, I pinch his ass cheek on his way out the door.

“Remember what I said, Goddess. I could get used to this. So you might want to watch yourself.” He winks, and the door shuts behind him.
