“Better not.” He attempts to pinch my ass, but my skirt is too tight.

Turning around, I wink at him before taking off running outside to the truck.

I’m excited to get a night out with the group, but seeing Ripp sitting in his truck is like a wet towel on the night. I can’t seem to escape the fact that my father wants Wyatt dead, and I’m supposed to be dead, but someone knows I’m not. Whether it’s James or my father, someone knows, and it’s only a matter of time before trouble finds us.

Wyatt goes over to Ripp first, then comes over to join me.

“Ready to go?” he asks me.

“Sure am.” I wiggle my ass in the seat. “All buckled and everything.”

He leans over the center console, kissing me. “In case I don’t say it later, I appreciate everything you’ve set up tonight.”

Smiling at him, I settle back in my seat, turning on the music while his hand rests on my thigh. He squeezes and inches closer to the hem of my skirt. This man is going to be the death of me. And death by orgasm sounds pretty fucking fantastic.

By the time he parks the truck, I’m about to jump him right here in the parking lot with Ripp watching.

“Let’s go!” I hop out of the truck and rush around the back.

“What’s the big rush?” He slowly shuts the door and saunters over to me.

“You and your hands. If we don’t get inside in the next five seconds, this parking lot is about to get a show.”

Chuckling, he takes my hand and pulls me into the brewery. Over in the corner, we spot every single member of his family here.

They all yell “surprise” and rush out to hug him.

“Okay son, why is it that we’re here? Your mother has been a nervous wreck all day,” Pops Keaton says.

Wyatt stands at the head of the table, rubbing his hands together and sucking in a deep breath.

“Well. I’ve been keeping a secret.”

“Yeah, we already know you two are together. Coop’s been bitchin’,” Hunter yells out.

“It has nothing to do with Sophia.” Wyatt rolls his eyes. “I recently was asked to take the detective’s exam, and I found out this morning that I passed. Chief is putting me on a task force with some members from other departments to figure out what’s going on up toward Hemlock Cove. I’ll be working closely with Evander Stoll from their department.”

“That’s so amazing!” Anna launches herself at Wyatt to hug him, and I’m thankful she saved all her excitement for him even though she already knew.

The rest of the family follows suit, and they all hoard around him to say congratulations. It makes me smile knowing that he’s getting the credit he deserves from his family, sharing parts of himself with them that he wouldn’t have allowed himself to before.

Anna drapes her arm over my shoulders. “I just knew you were right for him. Thank you for making him tell us and letting us love him.”

“He deserves it all,” I say as we both stare at him, soaking in all the love with his crooked smile on full display.

As everyone starts to settle in their seats, Wyatt spots the cake at a table along the wall.

“Is that for me?” he asks Violet next to him.

“Yup, made it today. Your girl picked the flavor. A blueberry chiffon cake with lemon cream inside and cream cheese frosting on top.” She winks at me.

Turning to me he says, “You chose a blueberry cake for me?”

“I did. I know how much you love your Maine blueberries.”

He rewards me with another smile, pulling my chair closer to him so he can kiss the top of my head. “Careful, Goddess. I could get used to you.”

“Maybe I like that idea.”
