5. Orgasms. Nuff said.
There’s one more sentence near the bottom.
Reason #6 must be told in person.
I pull out my phone and shoot him a text while Mr. Archer starts to drone on about derivatives.
ME: What’s number six?
RYNE: Refer to the note.
ME: Come on.
ME: Tell me.
ME: Now.
ME: Please.
RYNE: I can’t.
ME: Why not?
RYNE: It’s classified info.
A few minutes before class ends he texts again.
RYNE: BTW, I have to go to the eye doctor after school, so I’ll see you tomorrow?
ME: Definitely.

The next morningstarts in a similar way, only instead of a muffin with my hot chocolate, I get a bagel.
“It’s got peanut butter on it.”
Because I don’t like cream cheese. I said so once in passing and he remembered.
I smile at Ryne, taking it with no attitude today. “Thank you, it sounds great.” I blow on the little opening on the lid of my hot chocolate and take a drink, licking a small drop off my lip. Ryne stares at my mouth and I inhale sharply when he steps closer, right up to me. The scent of his body wash hits me hard, making my heart pound in my chest and butterflies attack my stomach. I take another breath, slower and deeper this time. I miss it so much, but more so I miss the scent beneath it, Ryne himself. He brushes his thumb over my bottom lip.
“I kinda wanna kiss you right now.”
My face slowly breaks out into a grin as the memory of the last time he’d said that plays through my head. It hadn’t ended the way I’d have preferred back then, but it still makes me smile.
“Only kinda?”
Ryne brushes his fingers over my cheek. “I definitely do.”
“You probably should then.”
His eyes, deep blue and full of hope, hold mine captive as he wraps his palm around the nape of my neck and draws me closer. All my insides sigh with relief when his lips find mine, and then he kisses me deeply like he’s trying to physically imprint all of his words and apologies onto me. He kisses me once more, softly, and then touches his forehead to mine. His fingers ghost along the back of my neck.
“Please tell me I’m not too late, Dacen.” I’m about to respond when the bell rings. He kisses my forehead and takes a step back. “I’m calling in my prize now.”
I tilt my head. “You already called it in.”
He shakes his head. “Not technically. My prize was to talk after school, and we have yet to do that.” We have a lot to talk about, and I want to talk about it, to figure things out. I want Ryne in my life. “Are you free today? After school?” He smiles at my nod. “I’m parked near the field entrance, second to last row. Meet me there later?”
