Her eyes widened at my words, and I immediately mentally kicked myself for the flirtatious remark. I was a serial flirt. Anson always gave me shit over it, but it just slipped out.

“I’m sorry,” I mumbled. “That was…”

She leaned in, and immediately, I bent down a bit since I was so much taller than she was.

She pressed her lips gently against my cheek, and I closed my eyes, relishing the way her soft lips felt against my skin.

“You’d have to buy me a new skirt if you set it on fire,” she said softly.

I chuckled. “I’d buy you ten new skirts, Red.”

She pulled away, the smile still on her face, and opened the door. I watched her go and didn’t move after the door closed.

“You know you’re fucked, right?” The guard called out. “That girl is so protected and wanted by all these powerful men. What do you bring to the table, man?”

I looked over at him. “Nails, skirts, and fire.”

He shook his head. “Good luck with that.”

Good luck, indeed.

ENZO

Iwatched from my spot on the couch as Rosalie hobbled into the room. The lights were off, but I sat there drinking, waiting for her to return. I didn’t like the idea of her leaving. I didn’t know this Ryder well enough, so all sorts of ideas raced through my head.

They were the worst ideas, too. That she was wrapped in his arms, his dick buried inside her as she moaned his name.

I didn’t know why I even entertained the thought. She wasn’t my girl anymore. She was married, and anything she had going on outside her group was their issue, not mine.

But fuck.

I knew without a doubt I’d tell Anson his little bestie was after his girl, though. I was a dick like that. I doubt he knew about him.

“Enzo,” Rosalie said as I sat forward, her breath catching. She’d clearly not seen me.

“Rosalie,” I replied, eyeing her. “Are you well?”

“I’m fine. We were just talking.”

I scoffed. “I don’t give a fuck what you were doing. Your infidelity isn’t my issue. Not anymore, anyway.” I got to my feet and made to leave the room, but she called after me.

“I’d have never kissed Sylar if you hadn’t forgotten I existed.”

I stopped and closed my eyes, my back to her.

“Maybe I forgot you existed because I learned who you were.”

“That’s bullshit, and you know it,” she said, her voice shaking. “Kissing is very different from fucking, Enzo. It’s different from getting someone pregnant and leaving your fiancée for them.”

“Did you enjoy it?” I asked, turning back to look at her.

She stared back at me in the dimness from the city lights and the moon.

“Did you enjoy kissing another man when you felt like I’d forgotten about you?”

“Yes,” she whispered.
