I placed my bag on the floor and closed the door before creeping over to her.

She looked so beautiful as she lay in my bed. If someone had told me a year ago she’d be here, I’d have wept and called them a liar.

But now?

I had to make this work. It had to happen.

Quickly, I peeled off my clothes and went into the bathroom, shutting the door quietly behind me. I did the world’s fastest shower before coming out in a pair of pajama bottoms.

I climbed into bed next to Rosalie.

It hadn’t slipped my mind that this was exactly what it would have been like if we’d stayed together. My girl. In my bed. Our daughter sleeping peacefully down the hall. Both of us having our careers.

It was my fucking dream.

The last few days, I wondered if maybe I’d gotten too high on sugar and somehow ended up in some weird trip I couldn’t escape from. Not that I wanted to, if that were the case.

Immediately, Rosalie mumbled my name and shifted so she was in my arms.

I smiled, my heart thrumming hard in my chest.

I held her gently and placed a tender kiss atop her head. Before I’d left for work that morning, I’d jerked off in the shower in a speed race so I wasn’t late for work. In my mind, she was on her knees, sucking my cock.

I’d blown my load in less than thirty seconds. While I was upset that I didn’t remember our night together at the house, I was grateful too because I knew my bitch ass hadn’t lasted long since I hadn’t been laid in years. I’d have likely been embarrassed.

I lay with her in my arms for a long time, envisioning what it would be like to actually get her to be mine again. I’d join her guys if I had to. I’d learn to deal with Ass Hat and that German shit box. Evan didn’t seem like a bad guy, so I didn’t foresee issues with him. In my head, I willed E and Enzo to be with us, too.

A noise from downstairs woke me, and I carefully untangled myself from Rosalie and grabbed my gun before goingdownstairs. I didn’t know if Ryder woke up, got confused, and busted his ass on the stairs or what, but I took caution anyway.

I crept downstairs to find Enzo and Jade laughing softly as they grabbed more drinks.

I eyed Jade as she draped her arms around Enzo’s neck and giggled softly. He rested his head against hers.

Fuck no.

I’d told this bitch already.

If Enzo didn’t want Rosalie, fine. I’d learn to deal, but there was no fucking way I’d let this bitch dig her claws into him.

Ryder shifted on the couch, and I had no doubt he was awake and watching the entire thing unfold, and that Enzo didn’t even realize we had a guest.

I stormed forward and shoved my way between Enzo and Jade.

“I think the fuck not,” I snarled as she stumbled back.

“Cole, man,” Enzo started as Jade called me a very colorful name.

“No.” I rounded on him. “Shut the fuck up.”

He blinked at me, clearly fucking blitzed out of his head.

“If you don’t want Rosalie, fine. Be a fucking idiot,” I snarled softly at him so Jade couldn’t hear as she whined and called for Enzo. I placed my hands on either side of Enzo’s face. “But for fuck’s sake, Enzo, not this bitch. Not tonight. If you’re going to fuck her, do it sober so you know exactly what you’re doing. Whiskey weinering ain’t going to be the choice tonight, brother. You’ll hate yourself tomorrow.”

Enzo stared back at me. “Does she fuck you, Cole?” he whispered, his voice shaking. “Rosalie?”

Something inside of me grew protective. Rosalie was my girl, even if it wasn’t confirmed just yet. Enzo didn’t want her. Or at least he claimed he didn’t.

And because of that, he wasn’t privy to anything we did together.
